I am running on a $30 budget on Amazon.com or wherever it is cheap. I basically want to make the whole area of a scene indoors (like a small living room) to be brighter and look good in quality. I am recording skits using my samsung S2 camera with its 8 megapixels, which is pretty good for me. Which will be brighter and for a larger area? I don't want something to just light up one person and the other person is in the dark right near him.

Answer
They are both good soft light sources but different...

China Ball = light in 360 degrees

Umbrella = more directional maybe about 100 degrees

China ball good for an all over base coat of light and the umbrella is better for close in control and faces.

how do you take certain pictures?

how do photographers take pictures of fast moving things such as lightnin?
do you need a camera thats high in megapixels or that can zoom in more times for nature shots (wildlife, plants, landscape views)
im new to photography but i am willing to learn. i was planning on getting a 12.1MP 20X camera from Cannon, $360.00 is this a good cam?

Answer
I can only tell you how to take photos of lightning at night. During the day you have to have alot of luck since you can't keep your shutter open very long.

Anyway, to take a photo of lightning at night does require some luck and patiences. When you go out you should set your camera to a low aperature (large number). your shutter speed should be on bulb (this allows you to manually open and close the shuutter speed. Basically you can have the shutter open as long as you have the button pressed down), and your ISO whould be set to 100 or 200 (a low ISO will reduce noise). Since you are taking photos of lightning you need to get a tripod (a cheap one will be good enough, but spending money on a good sturdy one wont hurt either) and a remote for your shutter release (this will reduce camera shake while at the long shutter speed).

Is the 12.1MP 20X Cannon good? I don't know. I use Nikon. I can tell you that the Nikon D80 is great. When looking for a camera you need to look for features that you will need. In this case you need to have tha bulb feature and an ISO 100 feature would be great but 200 is good too. The 12.1 MP is great but you don't need to have one that high. A good 7 to 10 MP camera would be good. That is, unless you are shooting photos for large posters or billboards, then a 12.1+ MP camera will be great.

As for lenses. You may wan to get a lens that will suit where you are at and how you want the photo to look. Example, if you are far from the lightning and want close up shots of it then a telephoto will be good. But if you are far or close and are wanting to shoot and entire area (landscape) then a widangle will be great.
