whats the highest megapixel camera you can get image

I would like a camera dSLR or hybrid that can do very high megapixel still images (preferably 35MP+) on moving objects and people. I also like to don't want to spend a year's salary on a Hasselblad. What kind of cost effective options are available?

Answer
I think the only dSLR that goes that high is the Nikon D800.

It's 36.3 MP and $3,000.

Will the clarity and quality of camera pictures continue to rise forever?

over centuries the quality of pictures have constantly been improving. like getting higher and higher megapixels and other camera terms that help make images better. but how good can a picture get? won't there be a limit? i dont think technology will advance to the stage where cameras have a billion trillion mega pixels, i mean as humans, our eyes can only see so little.

so my main question is, what's next?

Answer
There is a physical limit to light and lenses. When you hit the limit (depends on the sensor size, aperture and other variables), like a prism, the light separates before it gets to the sensor and the pixles would be too small to pick up all of the light waves. If I remember correctly, it is around 2 microns for the pixel size.
