People already calling it the DSLR killer. What is your opinion on the camera?

Answer
Obviously these people don't know what they're talking about, what can be done with this camera is pretty limited compared to a dslr. It will be a nice camera for those who like to take snap shot though.

The lens on this Nokia 1020 is no where near the quality you'll find on real good lens.

In low light, the camera has noise issue, most dslr will do better.

Have fun looking at the sample. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Nokia-Lumia-1020-official-samples-from-the-41-megapixel-camera_id45207#7-

What is the pros and cons of an android device?

Ahmed Alka

Im planning to buy a new phone but not sure which is the best and my problem is i love nokia devices and i think it better than samsung

Samsung OS: android jelly bean.

Nokia Lumia OS: windows phone 8.

Answer
Android is from my experience hard to use, and slow. I have owned several android devices and I would not recommend them. They also don't last long and crash all the time. The screens tend to be the largest but that's not always a good thing. I would go with windows phone or iphone. The iphone especially has great build quality and is easy to use and lasts forever. Windows phone is a great new operating system and is also very easy to use. Check out the nokia lumia 1020 it has an amazing 41 megapixel camera!!!! It is the same detail as a professional camera. So that is my opinion, I hope this helps with the decision.:)

I need to buy a digital camera to be used to shoot my wedding initially, and then close-up photography for my online sales after that. I have a maximum budget of $500 for the camera. I tried shopping for one the other day but all the terms were overwhelming. Zoom this, and megapixel that! Can anyone give me the lowdown on what all these terms mean and when/why I might need them?

Answer
Hello and best wishes on getting married! If you are thinking of getting a camera to photograph your wedding, I would caution you to step back and really think about it. Weddings are inherently stressful and chaotic, with too many tasks that need to get done. The last thing you need to be thinking about is how to operate a camera or whether or not your photos will come out. Since I truly wish you well and have your best interests at heart, I want your once in a lifetime memories to be properly captured; you may end up disappointed if you hand an expensive camera to someone who doesn't know how to take a photo or operate the camera. If you can't afford a professional photographer, you might consider looking for a photography art student or a skilled amateur who would be willing to photograph your wedding for the experience and a free meal. And those people should have the proper camera and lighting equipment already (not to mention the skill to use it), if they are truly serious about their work.

Now, since it also appears that you are serious about continuing with photography, given your desire to photograph items for online sales as well as your wedding, you should probably rule out point and shoot cameras (sorry, that includes the Canon S5 IS). For the absolutely highest quality photos of your wedding and your online items, a digital SLR (single-lens reflex) is the best choice. With a budget of under $500, there are really only two cameras to consider, the Nikon D40 or the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT. In fact, I priced the Nikon D40 yesterday at US1photo.com for $462 with the basic 18-55mm lens.

If you need even closer shots of items, a set of 52mm diameter close-up filters are cheaply available. This lens alone will let you stay about 11" away and still get a good magnification shot of small items.

For online sales shots, I would suggest you get a light tent and a tripod--this allows you to evenly light the object, provide a white background, and take a sharp photo. You can find examples of light tents on amazon.com

Now, to go over the terms you asked about...
Zoom: If you stand in one place, zoom capability is the ability for the camera to see wider or narrower (telephoto) without having to move farther back or closer. There are two basic types of zoom: optical or digital. Optical zoom is a true zoom, where the lens will get wider or more telephoto. Digital zoom is done by the camera, essentially cropping the photo to fake a zoom look. The images in digital zoom lose resolution if this is done; cameras/lenses should be judged by the optical zoom number, not by digital zoom. Zoom power is often expressed by a number followed by an "x" so that 3x is not as powerful as 4x or 5x. Note though that this X number doesn't tell you how wide or really how much telephoto the lens will give you; it's just a ratio of telephoto to wideness--i.e. the telephoto power is 3x more than the wide view or 5x more than the wide view, etc. Another thing to remember--the more power (10x, 18x etc.) the more optical compromises have to be made, so the poorer performance you get, particularly at the extreme ends (wide and far telephoto).

Megapixel: A pixel is a picture element or in simple terms, a dot of color. A million pixels is a megapixel or a million dots. Thus, a 6 megapixel camera has 6 million pixels. Note though that not all megapixels are created equal--a point and shoot camera with 12 megapixels (12 million dots) will not perform as well as an SLR with 6 megapixels. This is because the SLR sensor is so much physically larger, so it's better at capturing light. For a point and shoot 7 to 8 megapixels tends to be optimal for performance in such tiny sensors; more doesn't improve quality. For most digital SLRs, performance tops out at 10 to 12 megapixels, but even 6 mp is plenty in the SLR world.

Macro: this is a very mis-used term in point and shoot cameras. Most often, on point and shoots, it's really meant to reflect closest focusing distance. In SLR terms though, macro reflects the ability to get a 1:1 magnification ratio; that is, the object being identical to life size on the sensor or film. A 1:1 ratio is huge when seen in a photo; for online sales 1:3 or 1:4 is often plenty. What's nice with an SLR is that you get some working distance, allowing you to properly light your item attractively; too close and the camera lens casts a shadow on your subject or the lens distorts the object.

Aperture: This refers to the lens opening. It'll look like a series of numbers with an "f" in front, like f/3.5-5.6. For your purposes, you don't need to worry about this most of the time.

Exposure modes: again, for your purposes, you don't need to worry too much about this--you can set the camera to do automatic exposures or program exposures or the special scene modes. In brief, exposure modes are how the camera controls the shutter speed and aperture to determine how to get a properly exposed photo.

ISO: a measure of how sensitive the camera will be to light; bigger number = more light sensitive = can expose with less light. With a point and shoot, anything above ISO 400 pretty much is useless; with an SLR, you can go as high as 1600 (more with some cameras) and still be usuable.

LCD: This is the display screen on the back of the camera, measured in diagonal size. Usually bigger is better. 2.5" is the minimum you should get nowadays. SLRs use the LCD for viewing afterwards, not for taking the photo. Point and shoots use the LCD screen for both. The SLR is actually superior, particularly because the focusing and response time is so much faster than on a point and shoot.

CCD or CMOS: These are competing sensor technologies. Both have their pros and cons. Bottom-line: who cares, as long as you get good images.

Hot shoe: some cameras allow you to attach an external flash, which is done via a connection called a "hot shoe."

Image processing: chips in the camera to make the image from the data off the sensor. Canon calls their Digic, Nikon has Exspeed, Panasonic has Venus, etc. Again, for your purposes, who cares, as long as the image is good.

Hope this makes sense to you and explains not only the terms, but the other things you have to think about.

For a digital camera how many photos can I take with a 28MB?

glow 21

I'm going to get a digital camera but I want one with a big memory so I was just wondering how many photos a 28MBcan take?

And what cameras do you recommend that is easy to carry around and has a large memory?

Answer
Some cameras come with built in (internal memory) so make sure your camera can take added (external) memory. Internal memory is something you want to have in case you run out of external memory. I have never heard of 28mb memory unless the camera you are eyeing has that much internal memory. All of the memory cards correspond with multiples of 8, ie 8,16,32,64,128,256, and 512 and then you get into the gigabytes of memory (1000mb) -- 1gb, 2 gb, 4 gb...

A camera recommendation would be almost anything that is greater than 3megapixels. 4MP seems to be the standard starting point these days. If you are new to digital photography, make sure it has a viewfinder because not only will you be more comfortable getting used to it, there are situations (bright daylight) where you can't see the screen to compose your picture. You will want to be able to see it through the viewfinder. Some newer cameras have brightness features to help you see the screen better but I still like to have the option of viewing it the old-fashioned way, not having to reset the screen options and missing the shot.

The number of pictures corresponds inversely to the number of megapixels you have your camera set at -- the larger the megapixel setting, the better your resolution (you can enlarge your prints) but the fewer pictures you will be able to take. All of the memory card packages have charts to let you know approximately how many shots you can take at various camera settings. Here is my rule of thumb for shooting at my camera's "normal" setting (not "fine" or "basic"):

At 6MPixel setting, multiply the MB on the memory by 0.85 to get the number of pictures.

At 4MP, multiply the MB on the memory by 1 to get the number of pictures.

At 3MP, multiply the MB on the memory by 1.73 to get the number of pictures.

At 1MP, multiply the MB on the memory by 3.2 to get the number of pictures.

With a 256MB card, this comes out to :
218 pictures at 6MP
256 pictures at 4MP
443 pictures at 3MP
819 pictures at 1MP (lots of pictures, but only good enough for online auctions, emailing, and 3.5 x 5 inch prints.)
The actual memory card that your camera takes is the same size, no matter what the MB capacity is -- a 512MB card will take up the same amount of space as a 256MB. There are about 6 different types of memory cards available -- the camera box will specify what type your camera requires. When you purchase the memory cards, some record faster than others (stay away from the really generic cards).

Keep in mind it is better to take a picture at a higher MP and have fewer pictures than wanting to enlarge a small MP picture later because it was such a great shot and not being able to because it looks "pixelated" (the little boxes that make up the digital picture become larger, thus blurring your photo-- similar to zooming in on something on your computer.) You can always make your large pictures smaller for emailing, so it is better to shoot at the higher resolution in case you have captured that "once in a lifetime" award-winning shot!

As far as choosing a camera, look for the features I mentioned. Picking a camera with a larger lens will yield better results as well. Think of the size of a lens on a disposable camera -- the lens is so small it doesn't capture a very good image, the prints are never as good as using my larger lensed film camera. Also, look at optical zoom and pay no attention to the digital zoom. The optical zoom is real, just like on a regular camera. The digital zoom is useless, all it does it blows up the picture -- again, similar to zooming in on an image on the computer screen. Go for a camera size that feels good in your hands or one that will fit into the size bag in which you want to carry it around .

Another good feature is a camera that has less of a lag time -- that means the amount of time it takes from when you press the shutter to the actual recording of the photo. Sometimes what you get and what you hoped to get do not match because the camera takes too long to record it. I was reminded of this inconvenience while using my son's camera at the zoo today -- that jaquar was just not walking slow enough and I kept getting his tail not his face! The only camera that doesn't have this gap is a single lens reflex (SLR) because it captures the shot instantaneously, just as a film SLR would. A SLR camera will be pricier, bulkier, and heavier to carry so you might want to stay with a point-and-shoot.

I have used different cameras by Sony, Fuji, Olympus, and Nikon. The only camera I didn't like was the camera without the eyepiece feature and the ones with a long lag time. The newer Kodaks are nicer now than they were when digitals first came out.

On a final note, if your camera takes video, it will not be the high quality footage you would get with a camcorder AND video takes up quite a bit of the memory on the memory card so if you plan on using it for videos, make sure you purchase more than a 512mb card and it is always good to have more than one memory card with you, in case you haven't had a chance to transfer your pictures and videos to a CD or hard drive.

And now for the real beauty of digital photography: You can delete and never have to print the bad shots. Whatever camera you choose, it will pay for itself by not paying for the unneccessary printing of bad photos. I have already shot over 4000 photos on my Nikon -- had this been film, it would equal 166 rolls of film. At $4.00 for a roll of 24 pictures and $7.00 for processing, I would have spent over $1800 in the past year. Yes, my camera has paid for itself and more!

Before you head off to buy your new camera, print this and take it along because I realize no one would ever remember this much information when looking over all of the "candy" behind the counter at the store. So many decisions...So many options...

How should you place a digital slr camera in a camera case?

Nicole

Should it be sideways or flat? I just want to know so I'm not placing it in a position that will harm the camera. I have a Canon EOS Rebel T2i 18.0 megapixel

Answer
There are many cases you can use for this type of cameras like Case Logic, or Lowepro Ridge

I have a question about my Canon t4i and our photos looking a bit granny?

My husband and I just bought the new Canon t4i 18 megapixels and we love the camera. We enjoy taking pictures with it. I'm noticing that some of our photos come out a little bit on the granny side instead of being super sharp. We have a standard lens on the camera for right now... 18-55. Were going to purchase a few other lens to go with the camera when we get the money. We also are using a Zeikos UV 58mm Japan Optics lens on the camera too.

When we take pictures we try not to ever use the flash. For some reason, a lot of our outdoor photos and indoor photos are turning out granny. We use AV and TV setting a lot when we take our photos. We also set the ISO to different setting depending on what kind of lighting were using. Sometimes we will manual focus our photos and other times we just use auto focus. What is our problem? How can we fix the issue with our photos?

Answer
The answer is ISO. Too high and you'll see noise (red, green, blue specks that aren't supposed to be there). To get past that you either need to add:
More light (flash, turn on lights, etc...)
Better lens with wider aperture,
Slower shutter speed,
or a combination of those.

A 430EX flash is a great flash. Aim the head straight at the ceiling and you suddenly have natural looking light. In fact your camera can control a 430EX off camera from the popup flash.

Answer
As usual, it appears that too many of you have no idea what you are doing. The answer given by Chris is the only one that has anything to do with reality. Keerok should know better, but apparently doesn't actually print anything. That old "divide pixel resolution by 300" to get print size is bullshit, and has been for years. It was actually bullshit from the start, but somehow has become a "fact" repeated over and over again.

You may print any size you wish from a 13mp image, provided the image is property focused and exposed, and the person doing the printing has any clue what they are doing. There is no size limitation at all... and truly never has been.

I've already tried using the camera with a tripod on top of the microscope, but it gives mediocre results...
Thanks

Answer
You will need an adapter like this one http://www.amazon.com/AmScope-Canon-Camera-Adapter-Microscopes/dp/B005OZ5NXU

Will my current Canon lens fit new camera?

Cira

I have a Canon Rebel XS DSLR camera. I am planning on purchasing a film camera, and I found a Canon Rebel X 35 mm SLR film camera on ebay, but it's just the body. Could I use the lens from my DSLR for the film camera as well? Would it fit? It doesn't say what type of lens the film camera takes so I'm not sure if it is EF or EF-S. Thank you
Also what about a Rebel G?

Answer
If the lens you have for your Canon Xs is an EF-S such as the EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 it can't be used on the Rebel X. Only Canon EF lenses can be used on the Rebel X or a full-frame DSLR such as the 6D, 5D or 1D. An EF-S lens will damage the Rebel X or full-frame DSLR.

Canon auto focus 35mm cameras: EF lenses only

Canon cropped-sensor DSLR cameras: EF and EF-S lenses

Canon full-frame DSLR cameras: EF lenses only

Can you tell the difference between a print made from a scanned negative and a print made from a digital cam?

65 megapixel camera
 on ... CIA-1237R 12.0 Megapixel Digital Camera for $65.82 Shipped - TechEBlog
65 megapixel camera image
Q. Is there a way you can tell the difference?

Answer
This subject can open up the whole "is digital better than film" can of worms. A top level digital SLR of 12 MP or more is generally considered to be the equal of a 35mm film camera. In other words, even with the best, $50 drum scan on a 35mm negative, you will not really gain anything over a GOOD digital SLR.

Now when you get into medium format or large format film, it can be a different story. When these much larger negatives are given a high end scan such as a drum scan, YES, it will be a much better LARGE print than the digital SLR. At small sizes, you would not see any difference.

Then there is the matter of medium format digital backs. These are extremely high megapixel backs that attach to the rear of medium format film cameras. These backs can now be had as high as 65 megapixels, and as you can imagine, the photo quality is beyond belief. BUT, these backs can cost over $30,000. Yes THIRTY THOUSAND dollars... and even higher.

So your question cannot be answered simply. There are many variables that go into it.

For perfect photos, fast and simple, there's nothing better than Canon's EOS Rebel XS. I am saving up for a DSLR camera. I really like the Canon rebel T3i, T4i and the Nikon D5100... which do you recomend? I also wanted to know what lens to get with them? When looking and testing out the cameras in best buy with the kit lense, it was a little fuzzy and buggy in the backround and not as precise as i wanted it. I am thinking about getting the Tamron 17-55mm 2.8 I believe it was.

Answer
Canon is best for beginners, and the eos 600d would be my pick at the moment. With this, the best deals would be with the 18-55mm stock lens that's on most websites deals. This lens basically gives you a wide angle view for wide shots, and a bit of zoom (but not much). For a small bit extra, you can replace this lens with a 55-250mm lens, which is the equivalent of 7x zoom on a point and shoot. Basically, the cheaper lens does the wide angle bit, and the more expensive one does the zoom. You can get one which does both, but its more expensive, heavier (a big factor if you carry it around with you) and bulkier

I have a 4 megapixel Kodak digital camera but my mom just got a 10 megapixel Panasonic digital camera as a late Christmas present. She doesn't take pictures like I do, and she doesn't need the extra megapixels like I do. I really want the new one and she knows that I've wanted a new camera for a while now, but she just won't trade. How do I convince her?

Answer
If you are a responsible young lady, you can ask to "borrow" her camera. And be sure you take good care of it.

p.s. And while you're at it, use the wrist strap so it won't fall off your hand. We see those questions daily, "OMG I dropped my camera and it's broke!"

I'm looking for a DSLR camera that has video, I was looking into the Nikon D3100 or the Canon T3i BUT I like how the T3i Has the flip part of the camera so you can see your self while recording. (from my research I saw that the D3100 doesn't have that) I'm not sure if anyone knows of any that are better, that won't cost an arm and a leg. My budget is approx $800

As of right now I have the Nikon D3000 but.... I decided on selling it so I can upgrade, I want a camera that is good for photography and videos..... Help please?

Answer
By keeping in view your requirements and your mentioned budget, i would recommend you the Nikon D5100. It has advanced features then the Canon T3i. The D5100 has a slight edge
(0.6 f-stops) in low noise, high ISO performance (1183 ISO). D5100 has Significantly better image quality (80.0) and has a 13 EV dynamic range. D5100 also Distinguishes 1.4 more bits of color
D5100's movies are look great, with smooth motion and impressively low noise in dim light. It has In camera HDR which Combines multiple exposures to capture high dynamic range. D5100 has APS-C 23.6x15.6mm sensor, which is much larger than T3i. It has 3x less delay when turning on. It has contrast detection video autofocus which automatically focuses video shooting. The D5100's boost ISO is 1 f-stop better (25600 ISO) and has 11 focus points which Set focus accurately within the frame. the following link will help you to decide about this camera.

http://www.amazon.com/review/R1KCF39XVQCDBJ/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B004V4IWHY&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=tawerh-20

It has 3-inch, 921,000-dot Super-Density horizontal type Vari-Angle LCD Monitor. It has In-camera Special Effects Mode, n-camera HDR (High Dynamic Range), Stunning Full 1080p HD and Movies with Full Time Autofocus. ISO Sensitivity: 100-6400 (Extended Mode: 100-25600)

What are all these FF55 - 200 stuff on the DSLR camera lenses?

Michael

I'm getting a DSLR camera for Christmas and I don't know what all these funky letters and numbers mean.

Thanks in advance!

Answer
Labels, Numbers, They stand for different things.

If you just bought a DSLR you can go to the brand DSLR website and find information about such.

55-200 means that the lens has a 55-200mm focal range. Your kitlens has 18-55, in effect from a group shot to a relative thigh shot. And the 55-200mm is a lens in the tele range meaning it can pull closer for instance a bird in the trees.

Ah you can even see it in effect if you move one of the ribbed rings on the lens you see it extend a bit. Now look through the viewfinder and do it again. Hey wasn't that easy!

The other ring is for focussing, it allows you to manual focus if for instance the automatic focus doesn't cuts it [dark outside or something in the way]

What the other things mean..well that depends on brand and lens brand.

I agree with the others best is to buy a book into the basics of DSLR and read it, keep it with you and most important MAKE ALLOT OF PICTURES. The only way you can learn is through experience! And that means actual doing it.

DSLR's are great tools, but at the same time they are tools, it is the person behind the camera that makes the magic happen. Yes it offers auto modes but one of the nicest thing about the DSLR is control. You get the shot as you desire!

So buy a simple starters guide for your specific model [for instance if you own a Nikon 3100 buy a book that with pictures and easy words tell you what the buttons are for and what does what]

Then buy a book about different types of photography and well again with nice pictures inside so you can see what they mean.

Photography is an art, it is something you can almost touch, taste, feel.. but also it is a technical thing.

So just buy some basic books and actually make pictures. Learn the way get hooked on it.

What is the diffrence between d-slr cameras and camcorders?

Matthew

Regarding film, what is the diffrence between say, a 5d and an hvx200a, it seems like some of the cannon cameras offer very good video and picture quality. Why wouldn't you get one of those instead of a bulky camcorder that can't even get pictures. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both?

Answer
First, a few clarifications:

1) Current dSLR cameras and camcorders record to digital media. There is no film involved.

2) A "cannon" is a weapon. "Canon" is the name of the company that makes various electronics items.

Now for my opinion...
A dSLR is designed to capture still images. Capturing video (an audio is a secondary "convenience feature". This is why most have known problems overheating when capturing video for long periods and have poor manual audio-gain control. This is not to say they cannot capture good video, they can - but using this secondary convenience feature requires the user to workaround these and other known issues. Along with this is the fact that they mostly capture video compressed video. More compression = reduced video quality.

A camcorder - in this case, you selected a pro-grade Panasonic AF-HVX200. It is designed to capture high quality, low compression video. It has a lens diameter of 82mm (which is much wider than most dSLRs) and a very large 3CCD imaging chip system (also much larger than most dSLRs). This combination allows the HVX200 to operate in a much wider lighting window - its low light video capture is great where a dSLR would normally record video grainy video. The HVX200 has pro-grade XLR audio inputs (a dSLR with only a 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo audio input can add an XLR adapter like those from BeachTek or juicedLink) and manual audio gain control on the outside of the camcorder. The camcorder can capture video for as long as there is available memory and power with little worry of overheating.

If the primary reason for the equipment is digital stills, then the dSLR is preferred. Video capture is an afterthought. If the primary reason for the equipment There is no single device that can provide both functions (especially for a prolonged period) well.

If the goal is "best available quality", then use the proper tool to meet the goal. If the goal is to compromise based on bulk, then video quality is irrelevant... For example, if I want loud music, using a small boombox is silly if I have access to a 2,000 watt PA system... or... using a CTS to haul 1,000 pounds of stuff is silly when a large pickup would do a much better job. In both examples, both "tools" can do the job - one is right for the task, the other is not.

I am looking to buy a nice video camera for filming short videos for college portfolios. Any suggestions?

hailey

I would like HD and under $800. I would like video to come first and pictures to come second if that helps. I also already own a nikon lens so if theres a good nikon video camera around that would work great with the interchangeable lenses! Thanks!

Answer
If video is important, then a camcorder is preferred. It is designed to capture video. And audio. capturing still images is a secondary "convenience feature".

If stills are important, than use a still image capture device. Like a dSLR. Capturing video (and audio) is a secondary "convenience feature". For example, if you read the documentation available for download from the dSLR manufacturer's web sites, you will find they will overheat when capturing video "for prolonged periods" (about 15 minutes maximum) and stop video capture until it cools down (takes a long time)... or... check their built-in (mono) mic and no (or extremely limited) manual audio control. This means no stereo without an external stereo mic and adding something like a XLR adapter (~$350) to plug into the stereo audio input + use the audio gain controls... or... use an external audio recording device like a Zoom H2, H2n, H4n and take the extra steps to import and sync the audio when editing.

There are no camcorders under about $1,500 that have an interchangeable lens system (Sony NEX VG series).

I am not saying dSLRs can't capture good video - they can - but they cannot be treated like a camcorder and they cannot replace a camcorder. For example, if you take a bunch of short duration videos because the project is scripted and you are using a shot list, then you should be OK. The time between the short sequences *might* be enough time for the dSLR to cool down. There are workarounds for lots of things that you normally don't need to worry about when using a camcorder... If you can plan properly, the Nikon D3200 might work - but we don't know which lens you have and that has a huge impact on what is possible.

Be sure to include lighting (flash and video) requirements, steadying devices (tripod - especially for video), power supplies... and lots of other "accessories" needed for successful video capture.

For $800 you are in the mid range of consumer camcorders. Something in the Canon HF M and HF R series should fit quite well. We assume your computer and video editor can deal with the AVCHD compressed video for editing...

Answer
You should get a 3DS! Although it's camera isn't as good as the 14 Megapixel camera you mentioned, it does have the ability to let you view photos in 3D while a regular camera cannot!

Also, it has much more functions and Nintendo is announcing a system update around November that allows you to record videos with your 3DS!

Another thing to note is that the camera has a bunch of fun effects! I've had so much fun using the sparkle effect from using it.

The 3DS itself has much more functions than a regular camera as well and it can all be bought for around $170 dollars while high megapixel cameras cost a bit more.

-My sister has a camera and I have a 3DS. I use the 3DS way more than my sister's use of her camera. Just saying :)

Hope this helps!

i want to get a professional digital slr camera and want to find one with high megapixels and as low as possible price which is an oxymoron but i think i can find one for a decent deal. anyone recommend anything or know a website that can guide me????????

Answer
The key word in your question is "professional". In photography speak that word is usually related to cameras such as the Canon 5D, Canon 30D, Nikon D200, Nikon D2x. The Canon 5D and Nikon D2x will set you back many thousands of dollars just for the camera body. The next level down Canon and Nikon will also set you back some serious money. Those cameras have high grade construction and features and I'm not totally sure that is what you are looking for. Also, pro level lens can easily be $1K or better.

The next level down would probably be the Nikon D80 and maybe the Canon 20D (I'm not schooled on the Canon models). Those camera offer excellent features.

The entry level dslrs would be the new Nikon D40, Nikon D50, Canon Rebel XT/XTi. I hear the D40 is mainly for people who want some of the advantages of an slr but don't want to get all that technical with it. I have a D50 and just crossed over shot number 6,000 at a basketball game last night. It has been a nice camera for me.

Check out dcresource.com. They have good reviews.

I am in the market to purchase a new camera and equipment. I have an opportunity to put together photos for a look book and its been a while since I have done some photography. I just want to know what is the best DSLR camera to invest in for what I am looking to do. I am looking at Canon EOS Rebel T3i I am told its one of the best and then I am told by some that it is not good for what I am wanting to do. I was told that it would be best to invest in the Nikon D800 and some people are saying that there are digitals that give the same features for less. I was looking at a nikon D7000 and D4 complete kit. Please give input it would be greatly appreciated

Answer
Professionals need a robust camera when shooting day in and day out.

For this reason, the use cameras like Nikon's D3 series, D3, D800 or D3. If they have a Canon system, they use a 1Ds, Mark III, 1Dx, 5D, Mark III or 7D.

By the time you have the education and experience that would suggest you could go pro, you will have already established the brand of your camera system. This is why it is so important that you do a lot of independent research and not choose your camera based upon opinion

Look for professional reviews of the above camera on DP Review and DXOMark.com

Also visit the websites of those two brands to see the features, number and types of lenses as welll as accessories that are available for each camera model.

Finally visit a proper camera shop a few times as you narrow down your choices. Picking a camera system can take time because once you choose one, you will be married to it for decades, since whitching brands is just too expensive to make a mistake.

The D7100 and D4 would make a good pair at this time if you decide on Nikon. If you choose Canon, the 1Dx and 7D would be the choices for a pro.

The Canon T3i is an entry level dSLR and really cannot survive the riggers that a pro puts their camera through on a continuing basis.

If you are an advanced amateur and have used a Nikon or Canon 35 mm SLR in the past, the transition to either companies dSLR will be seamless

Remember, buying a couple of professional grade camera bodies is just the tip of the iceberg

Well, I am a 13 year old Bangladeshi boy. My hobby is photographing. I have a Nokia 2700 classic as my all-for-one device. It captures photo greatly. It has 2.0 Megapixel Camera with Max. 1600x1200 resolutuion. But my dear mom, she is a different story. She wants my dad to buy a digital camera for family photographing. I tried to convince her that my phone could do that job, but my isn't satisfied. She thinks my phone is no match for a camera. Maybe because she is a 'Analog Human in This Digital World'. Like every woman, she searches fashion everywhere. Maybe that's why she wants us to buy a Digital Camera. You wanna know about her camera-fashion sense. Fine. Read up - When we (Mom, Dad, Me) went into the camera shop, I wanted to examine a Canon PowerShot A3200 IS. Then Mom suddenly said, does it have Zoom Lense ? (The Camera was Off) We won't by a camera without that. I said, Yes. Well, we didn't buy anything that trip. When we came home, I asked Mom, why is she focusing on the Zoom thing so much ? Does she know what it does ? She said, no, I don't know. I asked, then why do you focus on it so much ? She said, because everyone else's camera have it, and it's fashionable. I got a large :o from her answer. See ? This is her sense. Then I demostrated her what is Zoom and my phone also have it, but my phone doesn't need a special lense. So, I want to know, how to convince my mom that we don't need a camera. My phone could do the same job (expect flashing). I really don't want my dear dad to spend BDT 11,700 (where BDT 4,000 is my money) on a Canon PowerShot A3200 IS, instead I could buy a Samsung Galaxy Y smartphone for BDT 12,200 or a Nintendo DSi for just BDT 7,000. Thanks.

Answer
Phone cameras are the lowest quality. 2.0 megapixels is low quality. Your mom is right that a real camera is better than your phone.

I want to buy a new touch screen phone with budget under RM500.Any recommendation?

Answer
For RM 500 you can't actually get a phone with a good camera or large screen. So you might want to spend a bit more to actually get one of the good phones. But here's a suggestion of good phones within your budget:

1. Samsung Galaxy Y Duos = RM 670 - 690
2. Samsung Wave Y = RM 560 - 600
3. Samsung Galaxy Y = RM 450 - 520
4. LG Optimus One = RM 500 - 520
5. HTC Wildfire (It's the best of all the above mentioned) = RM 600 - 650

1. Samsung Galaxy Nexus
2. Samsung Galaxy S II
3. Nokia Lumia 800
4. Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX
5. HTC Sensation XE (XL, is worse than XE by the way)

Oh, and you should check in low yat or digital mall for phones, sometimes they give you a good price plus you could trade in your old phone.
