I just bought this camera, is it good?

What I mean is will it take good quality pictures?

vicseo, I wasn't asking if I could get it serviced easily, I was asking if it takes good quality pictures. Get your head out of your ass.

Answer
Why would you first buy a camera and THEN ask if it's ok?

Anyway, it's a no name brand camera and it...
DOES NOT really have 12 megapixels, but only has 5 megapixels...because it uses interpolation to increase the resolution. Sorry, but interpolation is rubbish.

And...it has NO OPTICAL ZOOM, but only has digital zoom, which also is rubbish. So, to get the best images from this camera you should not zoom at all.

But, to see if it takes 'good quality pictures' why don't you go out and take a few pictures to see if YOU think it's good enough? Just don't get too optimistic, though...

good luck

Lens error on my boyfriends camera....help!!?

Lynseyb88

While using my boyfriends camera i had a little accident with it...i'll not get into details but basically now the lens is stuck in the outward position and everytime i turn it on it says lens error and turns itself back off! The camera is a GE A730, 7.0 megapixel.... Any help would be appreciated!!! :)

Answer
If the lens mechanism has been damaged in this mysterious accident then it will need a repair.
If it costs more than $65, you're better off buying a new one...$65

What is a good camera??

megrojo

I recently broke my Kodak EasyShare camera. I liked the camera okay, but was not impressed with the Kodak software. Now, I am camera shopping and these are things I am looking for:
-ability to take crisp "sport" pictures (my younger brother plays basketball and those pictures are important to me)
-at least 6 mega pixels
-good night pictures

I have looked at the Sony Cyber-shot 8.1 MP model DSC-H9.

I just don't know what exactly to be looking for as far as features go, because I am not a photographer!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
I've always been a fan of Cybershots, and my digital camera I've had for the last 4 years was a DSC-p32. It only had 3.2 megapixels, but it was a great camera. I finally decided it was time to splurge a little and upgrade, and after reading tons of reviews and giving in to buying something other than cybershot, I got a Canon PowerShot SD750. It has a stabilization feature which is amazing, an internal image processor which "fixes" particular blur in pictures (as if that ever happens with this camera), and a face detection feature that makes sure faces in pictures always come out clear. It is great. I chose it over a 12 megapixel sony because of its amazing ability to take blur-free pictures. That was my main complaint with my other camera... it's shutter speeds were so long that you had to hold the camera completely still for like 5 seconds just to get a steady still picture. This camera isn't has a particular setting for pets and kids (among many other things), so taking pictures of sports will be a breeze. Also, the video is amazing and can be hooked right up to your TV for easy viewing. You can even take pictures while it is connected.

Trust me... you will NOT be disappointed with this camera. This is a picture I took with is the first day I had it, without messing with any settings.

http://a713.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/65/l_0b08304d19dc66229d45557e596d6eb8.jpg

That picture is of course a million times smaller than the actual one, and it was taken of a very active puppy. If you have any other doubts, pick one up at a store, zoom it in on one of the TVs they have playing in the store of a video game demo, and take a picture. Watch as it "clarifies" the image right before your eyes. Then focus the camera on a group of unsuspecting shoppers, and watch as it detects each of their faces and even follows them if they walk behind an aisle out of view. It is amazing! It's also easy to use, even after I was so used to my CyberShot.

I purchased mine a week ago at Target, and I also got a 1 GB SD memory card, but it does come with a smaller card when you purchase it.

What is the cheapest but best quality digital camera?

pinksandbe

i need to have it feature taking pics in black and white except for a certain color. Like for examply all the girls are wearing pink in the pic so their shirts will be the only color that shows, the rest in black and white. if you can find a camera can do that let me know. but if u can find a photoshop that is cheap or free that can do that, let me know. Thanks!

Answer
Photoscape is free and so is GIMP and you can do that in any of the 38 of the 40 free editing software and all the 12 super duper editors (that cost $800). all in all you can do it in any computer program, there is no need to get the 2 cameras that do that in camera.

There's a few canon compacts that do that. They are good cameras but that definitely limits you. They are full auto compacts, no flip screen, no control, low ISO, bad night shots, tiny- you will drop it, and so on and so on. You can get any pocket camera with all the features you want and do the color splash for fun on the computer. or get a $50,000 65 megapixel Hasselblad and do that on the computer. People have been doing that on the computer for 10 years. or more. Canon put it in a camera directly in July.

What steps should I take to start my own on-the-side photography business?

Mike

I have a Sony DSC-R1 camera, plenty of memory sticks, and Abode Photoshop CS2. I have lots of experience in taking photos for personal use, but how do I break into the business side of photography? I want to do weddings, parties, events, etc.

Answer
First of all, you won't make it in the business with a camera that doesn't have an interchangeable lense. It's a sad fact, but true. No matter what megapixel or digital zoom it comes with.

That aside, first you need to be good enough to the point, where it's fair of you to charge customers for your service. Photographing for personal use isn't good enough. So, that means you need to get some experience. The best option out there is to get an apprenticeship with a local photographer, whose style you enjoy and admire. Spend a few years with him/her and learn the trade. You'll also get an insight into the photography business and see if it's what you really want. Running your own business isn't easy and isn't always fun. Trust me on this, you'll give up a LOT of your own personal time with family and friends and you will lose a lot of sleep getting it running. If you can't get an apprenticeship, invest into books and courses. Links to all books and resources are listed below. Two great organizations to learn are Professional Photographers of America (which also offers apprenticeships) and Wedding & Portrait Photographers International. Each organization offers great benifits such as courses, learning materials, networking, etc.

So, now you have about a years worth of professional education behind you, now what? You need to invest into equipment. A professional 3 light setup is going to run you close to $1500. Photogenic is the #1 used lighting system in the professional business. I believe about 88% of us use it. If you do weddings, having a portrait background is a must for formals. I'd reccomend canvas backgrounds as they are creaseless (if handled correctly) and not too pricey. Also, you need to figure out how you are going to handle all your printing. Are you going to invest $20,000 into printers or have a lab? TPI Photo is a great lab that I've always loved and will reccomend to anyone. What albums are you going to offer for weddings? I use Albums Inc for all my wedding albums, specifically the line of Renaissance albums they offer as Renaissance produces some of the top albums in the industry.

How are you going to advertise? Word of mouth is how I started and that alone generated 65% of my business (I now handle almost 70 weddings a year). Then I started off with small flyers that I passed out. I quickly purchased business cards to pass out at any oppertunity possible. Shortly after I had a couple weddings, I purchased tri-fold brochures. Now, I run ads in the yellow pages, 3 times a day on the radio, and once a week on the television. I also attend at least 5 bridal shows (the best way to get your name out) in my area a year. You'll get close to 200 brides visiting you. I also network with local florists, wedding planners, honeymoon spots, reception areas, etc. I now have an 6'x8' sign out in front of my hom studio and one billboard on the way into town.

Now, are you going to have a studio or just run it out of your house? If you have an official business you need to register as your services are tax free and a photography studio is tax exempt. Also, if your name isn't in the studio name, you have to pay for it. You also have to start saving up any receipt for business to use for tax deductions. Also figure out sewage, electric, gas, water, heating, mileage, the space that you take up in your house, etc for tax deductions also.

I could spend more time, but if you want more help, email me: chris@wise-photos.net

What are the differences between the Sidekick LX and the Sidekick Slide?

65 megapixel camera
on Canon Powershot A470 7.1 megapixel digital camera ++ Photography Media ...
65 megapixel camera image

Jason R

i.e. features, music players, cameras, screens, prices. Has Motorola added any new features too the slide and has Hiptop added anything new to the LX?

Answer
OK, kids--hope you've been nice this year, because here's something you might want to add to your holiday wish lists. Today, T-Mobile announced not one, but two new Sidekicks to be added to its lineup: the T-Mobile Sidekick LX and the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide.
Let's start with the latter since it brings something new to the mobile messaging device: a slide-up screen (all together now: oooohhh, ahhhh). Unlike previous models, which have been manufactured by Sharp/Danger, the Sidekick Slide is made by Motorola and features a smaller design. It measures 4.6 inches wide by 2.6 inches high by 0.6 inch deep and weighs 5.3 ounces, while the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 comes in at 5.1 inches wide by 2.3 inches high by 0.8 inch deep and 6.7 ounces and the Sidekick iD is 5.1 inches by 2.4 inches by 0.8 inch and 6.2 ounces. And hallelujah--it has a higher resolution screen at 320x240 pixels and 65,000 colors. The Slide still has all the messaging options that made the Sidekick popular in the first place, including a personal T-mail account, support for POP3 and IMAP e-mail, integrated AIM, Windows Live, and Yahoo instant messaging clients, and text and multimedia messaging. The quad-band phone also supports the new MySpace Mobile application (a separate download), which you can peep on the phone's Web browser that is said to have better JavaScript support. Other goodies include Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera with no (!!) video-recording capabilities, and a music player that requires the use of a microSD memory card but supports MP3 and AAC files. The Sidekick Slide will be in stores starting November 7 for $199.99 with a two-year contract.
The T-Mobile Sidekick LX goes the more traditional route in terms of design with its swivel screen. The LX is made by Sharp, and fortunately the company also decided to improve the device's mug with a larger 3-inch, 65,000-color TFT display and 400x240 pixel resolution. It's trimmed down a bit in weight at 5.7 ounces but otherwise retains the same dimensions as the Sidekick 3 mentioned above. You'll have your choice of two colors--midnight blue or espresso brown--and you can program it to light up like a Christmas tree to alert you to text messages, e-mail, and so forth. The Sidekick LX has all the same messaging features of the Slide and also works with MySpace Mobile. Final highlights of the quad-band phone include integrated Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera (again, no video recording), an MP3 and AAC music player, rated talk-time battery life of 6.8 hours, and a microSD expansion slot. T-Mobile customers get first dibs on the LX starting October 17, while the rest of the world can buy it in stores and online on October 24. Pricing is set at $299.99 with a two-year contract.

Now, we haven't had a chance to play around with these two new Sidekicks yet--we're hearing promises of the next week or two--so it's hard to comment about the new designs, which seem to be the biggest difference between the two devices and the Sidekick 3. Frankly, I wish there was a little more in the multimedia department considering the youth appeal of the Sidekick. Anyway, I'm curious: Among the current Sidekick owners and potential Sidekick owners, which one of these devices are you more interested in and why? Is there enough there to make you want to buy it?

Can you tell the difference between a print made from a scanned negative and a print made from a digital cam?

65 megapixel camera
 on ... CIA-1237R 12.0 Megapixel Digital Camera for $65.82 Shipped - TechEBlog
65 megapixel camera image
Q. Is there a way you can tell the difference?

Answer
This subject can open up the whole "is digital better than film" can of worms. A top level digital SLR of 12 MP or more is generally considered to be the equal of a 35mm film camera. In other words, even with the best, $50 drum scan on a 35mm negative, you will not really gain anything over a GOOD digital SLR.

Now when you get into medium format or large format film, it can be a different story. When these much larger negatives are given a high end scan such as a drum scan, YES, it will be a much better LARGE print than the digital SLR. At small sizes, you would not see any difference.

Then there is the matter of medium format digital backs. These are extremely high megapixel backs that attach to the rear of medium format film cameras. These backs can now be had as high as 65 megapixels, and as you can imagine, the photo quality is beyond belief. BUT, these backs can cost over $30,000. Yes THIRTY THOUSAND dollars... and even higher.

So your question cannot be answered simply. There are many variables that go into it.

Im getting a Sansung J600 for christmas could anyone tell me a bit about them?

ryanprior5

Im getting a Samsung J600 for crimbo but ive never seen one before or had a go of one, could anyone tell me something about them like the camera or memory or bluetooth or anything?

Answer
The phone comes with a clear colour screen which provides a screen resolution of 128 pixels by 160 pixels on a 65,536 colour screen. The screen is 1.9 inches in size & provides the user with a colourful display when the handset is open or closed. The user can enjoy both photos & videos on their Samsung J600. The phone comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera feature which has video recording capabilities. The user can capture or record still photos or moving footage on their handset which can be stored on their handset or shared with others easily. The Samsung J600 allows the user to record & play video in either MPEG4 format or H263 video format. The user will never miss those fun elements of their day as the user can simply record & playback those memories time after time. The J600 comes with 20 Mbytes of built in memory which can be added to easily by the user inserting a MicroSD⢠memory card to suit their storage requirements.
