I am in the market to purchase a new camera and equipment. I have an opportunity to put together photos for a look book and its been a while since I have done some photography. I just want to know what is the best DSLR camera to invest in for what I am looking to do. I am looking at Canon EOS Rebel T3i I am told its one of the best and then I am told by some that it is not good for what I am wanting to do. I was told that it would be best to invest in the Nikon D800 and some people are saying that there are digitals that give the same features for less. I was looking at a nikon D7000 and D4 complete kit. Please give input it would be greatly appreciated

Answer
Professionals need a robust camera when shooting day in and day out.

For this reason, the use cameras like Nikon's D3 series, D3, D800 or D3. If they have a Canon system, they use a 1Ds, Mark III, 1Dx, 5D, Mark III or 7D.

By the time you have the education and experience that would suggest you could go pro, you will have already established the brand of your camera system. This is why it is so important that you do a lot of independent research and not choose your camera based upon opinion

Look for professional reviews of the above camera on DP Review and DXOMark.com

Also visit the websites of those two brands to see the features, number and types of lenses as welll as accessories that are available for each camera model.

Finally visit a proper camera shop a few times as you narrow down your choices. Picking a camera system can take time because once you choose one, you will be married to it for decades, since whitching brands is just too expensive to make a mistake.

The D7100 and D4 would make a good pair at this time if you decide on Nikon. If you choose Canon, the 1Dx and 7D would be the choices for a pro.

The Canon T3i is an entry level dSLR and really cannot survive the riggers that a pro puts their camera through on a continuing basis.

If you are an advanced amateur and have used a Nikon or Canon 35 mm SLR in the past, the transition to either companies dSLR will be seamless

Remember, buying a couple of professional grade camera bodies is just the tip of the iceberg
