My camera is a Nikon Coolpix S6100 Wide 7x Zoom 16.0 Megapixel. I've had it since September 2011. The problem started about 5-6 months after I got it. The camera was working perfectly fine, it had been taken care of and never dropped or even came close to water. It just stopped turning on. So I brought it to Best Buy's Geek Squad, where they tried a majority of different things to get it working again. Everything failed. So they sent it into Nikon's repair shop, where they "fixed" the problem. It worked for about 3 weeks after that. I ended up just buying a new battery and the camera worked again, until the battery needed to be charged, it wouldn't charge. So I got a new charger, and still, the battery wouldn't charge. So I went out and bought ANOTHER battery, and the camera worked until the battery died. The battery still would not charge. Now it has been about 2 years and I still haven't had any luck with charging the battery. My warranty is expired and the Geek Squad will no longer help me for free. (Pretty mad that they just didn't replace the camera when I asked them to, while I still had a warranty) So I was just curious if anybody knew of any ways to fix my issues with my camera. I really don't want to invest any more money on this than I already have...but if that's what it takes, I'll try to be open-minded. Thanks so much for everyone's help!

Are you using the EH-69P to charge the battery?

Do you charge it the night before you intend to use the camera?

Have you let the battery sit for over a day or two when fully discharged (this can reduce the life of the battery)?

You should have sent the camera to Nikon during the warranty period

Do you know that batteries are NOT listed by how long you can leave the camera turned on, but how many shots it can take on a full charge?

Many of your issues seem to be based upon not knowing how to use the camera, maintain the battery in a way that gives you the best performance and what you can really expect from such a camera.

I have Li-ion batteries that are over 10 years old and they still work flawlessly.

Spend a lot of time reading your cameras user manual and get to the point that you fully understand how to keep your camera at its peak performance

What do you think about the Nikon Coolpix L23 digital camera?

Does it take a good quality picture? Is the Nikon Coolpix L22 better than it?

Answer
The Coolpix L23 was added to Nikon's Life range of digital cameras in February 2011. It is aimed at photography begiiners and has a 10.1 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom lens (35mm equivalent: 28-140mm), 2.7in LCD monitor and is powered using AA-size batteries.
