What do you recommend? Can I still get a regular size picture that is good quality and not blurred or covered in pixels with a normal digital camera?

Answer
There are three main reasons to get a DSLR -

1. Flexibility, the ability to add many specialized lenses and accessories for things such as panoramic shooting (wide angle), getting close to subjects from a distance (telephoto) and high magnification (macro) . There are also special lenses or accessories for portraits, lighting, etc.

2. Performance, in general DSLR's have higher performance functions such as faster shutter response (the picture is taken the instant you press the shutter), better continuous shooting (2-10 frames in rapid sequence), faster image processing (writing images to memory).

3. Quality, DSLR's usually have more options for recording to high quality formats (including RAW) which provide a better basis for making technically superior images and have higher quality lenses and sensors designed to optimize the recorded images.

In general you do not use the viewing screen to compose pictures but look through an "eye-level" viewfinder. Some new DSLR cameras now have on screen focusing/composition but the price of using it is often a slowed shutter response.

If you are interested in shooting action or sports you probably should look at a DSLR or possibly a "Prosumer" type model with through the lens viewing (the SLR part of DSLR). If fast shutter response isn't an issue and if you don't care about any of the other benefits of a DSLR then go for a point & shoot.

Check out Steve's Digicams to find many models to compare. Good brands are (in alphabetical order) Canon, Fuji, Nikon, Olympus,Panasonic & Pentax. Be sure to check out his section "Steve's Conclusion" for a quick summary of features, benefits and opinions. I have included links to recent consumer models from each of the companies listed above.

Hope this helps, good luck!

i need help!!! i have a project due and i dont have any programs for my camera.PLEASE HELP!

Answer
No. No dslr camera has this feature - it's just another cheesy snappers feature.

You'll have to download / buy software to make panoramic photos with your camera. Beyond that you'll have to learn how to shoot for the editor. That means shooting photos that will actually stitch together to look right as a panorama.

There's no doubt several write ups on the subject on the web so Google or Bing for them.
