i need a new digital camera for an upcoming family vacation. i want a newer one that is nice, but not a photography camera. i want one that takes good pictures but isnt insanely complicated for me to work. please give your opinions on digital cameras that are on the market or that you have and would like to recommend. thanks!

In new cameras, look for a viewfinder (LCD invisible in bright sun), optical image stabilizer, and check battery prices. High mega pixel settings take longer to process and may not be needed unless required for very large pictures. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches. My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7 x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.

I am in the market for a nice digital camera; which one?

I want a digital camera that has the following features:
1. Doesn't take a long time to load and snap shot and will take a picture fast I guess it's called "shutter" and reload (I also need to be able to upload the pictures fast to my PC)
2. Is Medium to compact in size
3. Has a least a 7x zoom
4. Takes good pictures
5. has a decent size LCD screen
6. Not too complicated to use but has features
7. Is durable
8. Doesn't cost more than $125.00
