What is a good video recording camera for under 500?

I was wanting to get a camera to start recording videos for youtube. I plan on doing this in the summer so there isn't a huge rush. I was just wondering if there were any good cameras that are under 500 dollars. I have been looking at a lot of Canon ones. I don't know very much about cameras so you can see my problem. I was looking into SLR because it seems like they are better quality.
One I was looking at was the Nikon COOLPIX P510. I thought it seemed like a pretty good camera, but some of the reviews didn't seem very good.
If you have any suggestions please post them!

You have to remember that unless a camera is reviewed by a professional reviewer, you age going to hear a lot about the incompetence of the user, so even if they had a $8,000 Nikon D3X in their hands, they would be complaining about the poor quality of the images.
But really if your goal is to shoot video, why don't you buy a video camera?
Look for consumer level video cameras made by Panasonic, JVC, Sony and Canon. Look firts on the companies websites to see what each camera models features are before you start looking for the best price.
