Does MegaPixels offer the best quilty in photos?

Lets say you have two photos, they are the same photos. one is a 13.1 MP and the other is shot with a 24.6 MP camera. Will the high MP camera offer the best quality? If not, what offers the high quality that makes photos look like glass, HD, the best of the best?

Answer
Yes and no. In today's cameras, the answer is largely no. But the answer is not simple. There are many factors that affect quality. Some have already been mentioned. Not mentioned is that sensor technology has improved in ways that are unrelated to pixel count. An 8-megapixel sensor today (if you can find one) will be much better than the same size from five years ago. As a general rule, the more pixels you have, the less light there is to share between them. This harms low light performance. However, the technology has improved so that today's sensors use the light more efficiently. Another factor is the quality of the in-camera processing before you even see the image. The more expensive cameras have more powerful processors and better software.

So it would be a mistake to purchase a camera solely on a comparison of the megapixels.

I can't leave the topic without mentioning that by far the greatest factor in quality photography is the skill of the person holding the camera. Most people who buy cameras today do not have the skills to take full advantage of the camera's capabilities. Another way of looking at this is that it won't be your camera that will limit the quality of your work. It will be you.

Would i still look as good as i do in a diff camera?10 POINTS?

I have a 5 MP camera. And look alright, but I'm guessing that I would look worse in a better higher MP camera, I look best in the mirror, better than I did on cam. Also is it bad if I only look good in a well lit area, or just descent?

Answer
Flip UltraHD Video Camera - 2 Hours (3rd Generation) NEWEST MODEL is a powerful, easy-to-use, fairly cheap video camera; it records @ 1280 x 720, 60 FPS, and can hold about two full hours of video at that capacity. It fits neatly in a shirt pocket and is pretty much ideal for recording anything that doesn't need to be professionally produced film, from home movies to recording interviews. It comes packaged with a basic editing program that's designed to make it as easy as possible to produce basic home movies and post them to the web.

I'm looking to buy my wife a new camera because she's well overdue for one. I've been researching and I'm highly interested in the Nikon 1 series. I just don't know exactly which camera I want to get her. I basically want to get the most bang for my buck. From my understanding the quality goes from the S series, to the J series and then the V series being the best? There's a special going on at many places right now for the Nikon S1 with a 11-27.5mm lense and then a 30-110mm VR lense for like $600. I was wondering if that's a good deal or will paying the extra money for a J series like the J3 and an extra length lense worth the money?

Answer
First, anyone calling mirror-less cameras "... glorified point & shoots ..." shouldn't be taken too seriously. Yes, there are some on here who spend a great deal of time gnashing their teeth and wringing their hands criticizing mirror-less cameras while apparently forgetting that at one time in the history of photography all cameras were mirror-less. They were called view cameras and used sheets of film such as 8x10 or 5x7. Later, after the invention of 35mm film, rangefinder cameras were introduced. The Leica brand was the gold standard of rangefinder cameras. (Note: Many who now denigrate mirror-less cameras were, a few short years ago, equally dismissive of DSLR cameras with Live View and video capability.)

Look at this article:
http://www.shutterbug.com/content/photography-orest-macina-seeing-magic-macro Look at the images. Now look at the awesome, sophisticated cameras he used to make those images - an Olympus SP-565UZ and an Olympus FE-370. In my opinion having your images published in a major photography magazine when using such relatively humble cameras says a lot about mirror-less cameras and point & shoot cameras and definitely proves that "It isn't the camera its the photographer."

So if you've read reviews of the Nikon 1 models and looked at examples of pictures made with them and find them satisfactory then let your budget be your guide.

I want to buy a lense for my Nikon D5100 but I don't understand anything from all these camera terms?!?

THE TYPES OF PICTURES I WANT TO TAKE: I really want 2 CHEAP lenses 1 for landscape (so wide-view) and 1 for portraits or such thing. Mainly, I will be taking pictures of people, beautiful places, etc. I don't have a big budget and I am ONLY a beginner photographer, so I'm only looking for 2 lenses that are better than the one that comes with my camera. Thank you in advance! :)

Answer
Hi,

It's all easy to understand, so don't worry. Lenses don't understand beautiful places, bad places - they're either made out of good quality glass and then it depends on your skills.

Lenses I recommend are 10-24mm, 18-105mm, 55-200mm and more.

How many megapixel camera should I get for a Digital Media Course?

16 megapixel camera best buy

16 megapixel camera best buy image

Natalia

I'm starting a course in three weeks time that is basically all digital stuff: including photography. I would like to take the photography path as we were told to choose between game development (not very good with writing programs) and photography.
So should I get a 14 megapixel, 16 megapixel or 20 megapixel camera (I had a look an I'm quite keen on the Samsung Smart Camera 16 megapixel camera but I first wanted to ask how many megapixel camera I should get.)

Thanks in advance!

Answer
Zero mega pixels is just about right. YES, I am kidding, but I am just trying to drive home the point that mega pixels do not matter any more! All cameras produced for the last several years have enough mega pixels to produce great quality prints. BUT you must always set you camera for MAXIMUM RESOLUTION. How do you do this? With most cameras you enter the "menu" function and scroll through until you come to the "pixel" setting. ALWAYS set you camera for greatest number of pixels and leave it there! But you want small files for email etc. You should get your yourself a small program for your computer, where you can save your picture for email (using a slightly different name of course).

More important is the length of the zoom lens. You want at a minimum a camera with 5x optical zoom lens. A camera with a 3x zoom lens is useless, and you will wish you had at least a 5x with in a couple of months. You didn't mention a budget for this purchase so it is hard to make a recommendation. Samsung are ok cameras. But Canon, Fuji, Nikon, Pentax are really the names to strive for!

P.S. You said nothing about a DSLR, Digital SIngle Lens Reflex camera like someone else recommended. That is like buying a ladder with 5 of the 6 rungs remove! Too much camera for your level at this point.

is it true that a 16 megapixel camera takes fuzzier pictures than a lower resolution?

John smith

im interested in buying the fujifilm f550, witch has a 16 megapixel cmos sensor, but a friend told me that the pictures have too much noise and are not as defined as a lower megapixel camera. he suggested a 12megapixel camera, is this true? and if so what compact camera should i get(no DSLR)?

Answer
Your friend is correct. 16MP is fine in a camera with a large image sensor...but compact cameras have a very small sensor. The more MP in a camera with a small sensor, the more noise and degradation your images will have.

When looking for a camera, try to get one with the largest sensor you can. Most compact cameras have a 1/2.3" sized sensor. Fujifilm's EXR models have a 1/2" backlit CMOS sensor as opposed to the usual CCD sensor found in most compacts. This backlit sensor mostly allows full HD movie recording and fast fps, but doesn't really do much for image quality.

For very good image quality (other than a dSLR) I recommend a compact like Canon's G12 or the ultra compact, S95. They have a slightly larger sensor than many other compact cameras (1/1.7"). They have 10MP, but they produce better image quality than most compacts with more MP. The previous models (G11 and S90) also had 10MP...Canon kept it at 10MP for good reason (noise control). The main downside to both models is they do not record full HD movies, which is what most people want these days, but they do record in HD (1280 x 720) which is perfectly ok.

For image quality alone (though far from perfect) the Canon G12 is my pick...though it's body size and weird retro look might not appeal to everybody. The image quality produced by Fujifilm's cameras just doesn't cut it, in my opinion.

Before considering which model to buy, I recommend you look at samples from the first link below. You can compare models and see ISO image samples. That way you will have some idea of how a particular camera performs (remember to view higher ISO's...400, 800 and 1600)...

How many megapixels on the new ipad 2 cameras?

on iPhone 5mp camera vs Sony 8mp camera
megapixel camera ipad 2 image

Ralf

The new ipad 2 has two cameras. How many megapixels on each? Apple does not have this information on the tech specs. Anyone know?

Answer
Both cameras are capable of still photos and video recording. Back camera is capable of 5x digital zoom. Front camera is VGA still photo and video recording and the back camera is HD video recording and (presumably) VGA still photos. Both are 30 frames per second. Apple didn't say anything about mega pixels, though it should on par with the ipod touch 4g. Take this with a grain of salt because i don't know for sure.

EDIT: just read the description again. you probably already knew all that stuff. Just assume it's the same quality of the ipod touch 4g

What would be better a Nintendo 3DS or an iPad 2?

Chris

I have an ipad and I was thinking about buying the new iPad 2 for my bday present. But then I heard about the nintendo 3ds and it sounds really cool but I don't kno witch one to buy now because both of them are really impressive. So should I stick with the ipad or should I get something new and different like the 3DS? And what would be some good reasons on why to buy the iPad 2 or the 3DS.

Answer
It all depends on what you want. Both devices are different. Here are some of their features, look through them and see which one suits you best:

Nintendo 3DS pro's:

-Can display full 3D without the need for special glasses
-It can take 3D pictures! Buying a camera that does this costs a lot, but you get it built in the 3DS!
-Higher quality games than the iPad has - 3DS games will last you a lot longer than iPad games, and will most probably be more fun
-You can watch movies and TV sports in 3D!
-You can buy and download additional game content and updates from the Nintendo e-shop
-It is smaller and lighter than the iPad 2, so it is more portable
-You can browse the internet, use facebook, youtube etc. just like on your PC
-You can play games online wirelessley
-You can add people to your 'friends list' - then you can see what games they are playing, you can play with them online, and you can send text messages, drawings (which you make with the 3DS touch screen) or pictures to them
-It can play augmented reality games - these games work by you putting a small card on your table. Then, the 3DS will make a game on your table! To see what I mean, click on the link below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14_EDenxvro - that is a guy playing on his table

Here are some videos of how games look and play on the 3DS:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSvOy_SqNVI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J8IX1mmCTk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A_1IDwX0Cw

Nintendo 3DS cons:

-Even though it can take 3D pictures, it does so at a rather low resolution of 0.3 megapixels (640x480)
-The 3DS has a much shorter battery life than the iPad 2 (it only has 3-5 hours with the 3D effect on, and 5-8 hours with the 3D effect off)
-The 3DS touch screen is very good, however it isn't as responsive and sensitive as the iPad 2's
-Adding friends to your list can be annoying as you need to exchange 12-digit number codes to do so

iPad 2 pro's:

-It has a bigger screen the the 3DS
-It has a lot of free apps, the 3DS's cost money
-You can use live video chat just like with a webcam on your PC
-It has a longer battery life (it lasts roughly 9-10 hours)
-It is capable of faster web-browsing and internet usage
-It has more built in software
-It comes with a larger 'harddrive' (it comes with 16GB - 64GB, whereas the 3DS has 2GB)

iPad 2 Cons:

-Big games like Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, Super Mario and Assassin's Creed are almost never available for the iPad, and when they are it is often a cheaper, less fun version
-The iPad 2 costs a lot more than the 3DS (it costs a minimum of £325, whereas the 3DS can be found for a minimum of £195)
-The iPad 2 takes longer to charge up once the battery has drained
-It cannont take 3D pictures or 3D video like the 3DS, and its picture resolution is also very low (0.7 megapixels)

So really, its down to what you want. If price is an issue, then go for the 3DS as it can be found for up to £125 cheaper. If its not an issue, then look at what they can do. The 3DS will offer amazing 3D without glasses, it is also one of the first machines ever to take real 3D pictures, it allows you to watch 3D movies and sports, and will have better games. However, gaming is the main feature of the 3DS. So, if you don't like to play games, or only play them from time to time, then the 3DS might not be for you. The iPad is less portable, but offers live video chat, a better, larger screen along with more space to store pictures and videos, and faster internet connections.

I hope I've helped, and happy birthday!

How can I keep my stuff safe while walking in London?

Philippos

I am going to London this June with my school. I will be walking with 50 people around me, but I am just wondering how can I keep my personal belonging that I will be carying with me safe. I hate to think that I could be robbed and I don't know how I can stay safe. A backpack is not such a good idea because someone can easily open it behind you so I thought of using a fanny pack (waist pouch) to carry my money, cell phone and maybe ID card (will also be holding, hanging actually, my SLR camera on my neck) OR one of those backs that you wear and come above your head and make like a half X around your back and front. I just want to have easy access to everything and make sure I am not a target. Plus I thought that carrying a backpack would be better because i could keep a jacket in there that I don't want to carry. Tell me what you think!

Answer
Hi most of us do not carry large amounts of cash relying mostly on debt cards kept in front trousers pockets in wallets with id cards and credit cards. yes you could keep spare rain wear in a back pack but no value-able items ever so easy to steal. camera around your neck but only a small compact one not a dslr. as it attracts attention phone needs to be kept in a trouser pocket. too with loose change but not much.
so enjoy just be sensible about what you carry and where you go stay to the main thoroughfares.
never under any circumstances have pieces of paper with pin numbers about your person just keep them safe without displaying where you refer too for getting money.

I have a 18-200mm SLR digital camera Nikon Lens.
I am looking for something that will let me zoom in a lot closer. Is there some sort of teleconverter I could get to attach to it? Or would I have to save up for a 400mm or 600mm lens?

Answer
You can get a 2X teleconverter which will essentially double your focal length to 400mm. In my opinion the autofocus slows down some but it isn't that bad. At 400mm you should definitely use either a tripod or monopod to steady the camera & lens

How to make picture NOT underexposed when taking pictures indoor using slr camera loaded with iso 100 FILM ?

has

I'm new using film slr camera, its nikon n90s with sb 26 speedlight.
But the speedlight is too big and cumbersome , so If I dont really need it, I detach it from the camera body.
Currently the camera is loaded with iso100 film. I know 100 film usually is for good light. But I want to take picture indoor also but not underexposed..is it possible? How?

Answer
There are some things you just can't change, like you need a lot of light to properly exposure ISO 100 film.

You can time your indoor picture taking to take the best advantage of the sun - when it is shining through the window and you get maximum light. You can also look at increasing the light by reflecting the light with something like a white posterboard. One of those cardboard things you put in a car's windshield - that has a shiney surface - also works.

As was mentioned, a tripod helps a lot. you can also prop the camera on a pillow and use a timer.

If you want to hand hold it and you have a slow shutter speed, brace yourself against a wall, take a deep breath, and slowly press the shutter.

And a fast lens doesn't hurt.

Good luck!

You will be a lot better off buying a camera and a cell phone separately. 2 meg is ok, but 5 meg is whats really needed for what you want it to do. A USB cable with a camera like the Kodak C340 will be a really good combo and the pictures are going to be clear like you want. What is the best type of digital camera to get?

Q. I want a digital camera for about 200 dollars and i dont know what type would be the best. Any easy to use, beginner camera would be nice. If you have any suggestions, please tell me them!

Answer
Even though I currently own this ultracompact digital camera, I would still like to highly recommend the purchase of a Nikon Coolpix L10 for the following reasons:

1. Besides taking well-exposed hi-quality 5 megapixel pictures, it uses a standard set of rechargeable double AA batteries which last a very long time;
2. Has a 3x optical zoom;
3. Has a macro feature which allows closeups within 6 inches;
4. The flash setting for "red-eye" correction is on the navigator wheel and not within a submenu;
5. It's very small and light;
6. Uses inexpensive SD memory cards;
7. The digital video feature takes wonderful "sound" videos which are noise free. It records the piano very well with it's built-in microphone;
8. It comes with a USB 2.0 transfer cable which you connect to your USB computer port;
9. Has tripod mount on bottom of camera;
10. And the price is a mere $99 [sold at Samy's Camera - www.samys.com, and Staples.com.]

Review(s) can be found at www.amazon.com [Query: "Nikon Coolpix L10" along with pictures provided by satisfied purchasers.]

Good luck!

link, or name please. thankyou. i'm looking for one that will fit my camera.

Answer
I think there are two ways for you to go considering what I hear from you.

*A. One is to get a bag that basically just holds your camera with the lens and a bit of space to hold and extra battery and memory cards.

A bag that is some size bigger and can hold the camera and more. It does not have to much bigger than Option A, maybe enough extra space to carry a second lens.

I have provided a number of links below, some are to three known name camera bag makers and some are to vendors to see prices and other brands.

Here are my recommendations to look at for each option:

Option A: There are 2 to consider here and they are very similar.

***Tamrac 5514 Adventure Zoom 4 Holster Bag - designed to hold DSLR or Film SLR with a Zoom Lens up to 3.5" Long Attached. This option is trying to keep more compact and carry as little as possible, there is one external front pocket. Estimated cost $23

and the

***Tamrac 5515 Adventure Zoom 5 designed to hold DSLR or Film SLR with a Zoom Lens up to 4.5" Long (this model has 2 extra outside side pockets along with the external front pocket).
Estimated cost $25

Option B:

***Lowepro Nova 160 AW Shoulder Bag - can carry one or two extra lens. More space than the options above but a bit bigger. Estimated cost is $45.

I really like the Tamrac I listed in first more compact options, they are somewhat triangle in shape, holding the camera lens pointed downward. Other brands make this sort of case but Tamrac offers a good variety of sizes, a carry handle as well as the shoulder strap, and a short strap latch to keep the bag closed as well has being able to zipper it closed. I also like how the when it is closed the top is designed to overlap the zipper.

I know this is this is a long post, but a camera bag is very important, it protects the camera which is not a cheap investment.

The vendor are pretty easy to search and research.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

I want the overall best with no regards to price.

Answer
Then try taking along a Pentax K30 DSLR with 18-135 lens which both have some weatherproofing.

To carry it get one of these Spider clips to go on your belt

http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-spider-camera-holster-black-widow/p1525474?cm_mmc=googlebase-extension-_-camera-accessories-_-camera-straps-_-spider-camera-holster-black-widow_1525474&utm_source=googlebase-extension&gclid=cm6y18uvmrycfrdktaodhhsarq

Or, like me, use a broad shoulder strap holster bag

http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-lowepro-toploader-zoom-55-aw-black/p1520227

If you're not wanting an interchageable lens camera but can still carry one in a small shoulder bag then get a Canon SX50 superzoom. Alternatively a Canon G15 which still has a little optical viewfinder for quick framing in awkard conditions.

People who know cameras please help me find a very inexpensive digital camera that will not blur or motion bur and takes high resolution photos of close-up/small subjects. I definitely can't afford anything over $100, but $50 would be even better. I'm looking for the least expensive option that takes super super clear closeups basically.

I don't need a lot of storage space, just as long as it has a memory card slot. Would also be nice if it was wall-chargeable (aka you can plug it into an adapter to charge instead of a battery) but I don't know if that's possible. I don't know resolution jargon, but my current camera takes pictures that are roughly the size of an entire computer screen, so anything that resolution or better is good for me. It just blurs a lot, so that's why I need a new one.

Recommend away! Thank you!!!!

Canon PowerShot A2300 is an excellent camcorder. This camera comes with 16 megapixels. It also has an excellent 28mm wide angle lens with digital image stabilizer and a 720p HD video. This camera shoots awesome pictures, videos and have been one of the top recommended in 2013 so far. It would be perfect for your youtube videos. megapixel camera on ipad 2 image

?

I have some money saved up and I'm considering buying an iPad. I'm also throwing around the idea of a macbook pro. Can someone give me a comparison of the two? I'd also like to know the pros and cons of the iPad and Macbook Pro. I would prefer a list if possible. Thanks in advance :D
Can you use iMessage on the new iPad without having a cellular data plan for it?

Answer
Pros of ipad 3:
1. Sleek new screen, incredibly refined and mature.
2. A large app and media store, and a 5-megapixel rear camera for 3D photos.
3. The third-generation iPad will feature a Retina Display that offers double the resolution and four times as many pixels as the iPad 2 and users will be able to use the iPad without actually touching the iPad. Basically, wherever you look on the iPad screen, the camera will recognize through the use of constant retina scanning.
4. Heavy application loads 6 seconds faster than iPad 2.

Cons of ipad 3:
1. More heavier than the iPad 2.
2. Bigger battery means increased recharge time.
3. The new iPad gets warm.
4. apps and movies utilize more space.
5. Although the iSight camera has improved. The front-facing âFacetimeâ camera remains VGA which is not good for video chatting.

Whats the difference between the ipad 2 and the ipad 3?

Mack

Can you please describe both? I want one for my 16th birthday and I can get the second generation, but im wondering is the 3rd one worth the extra money? whats the difference?

Answer
"The third generation Apple iPad tablet computer comes with new and updated features including a faster 4G wireless connection; a A5X quad-core graphics processor and new Retina display for images 4x sharper than on the iPad 2, all delivered at a 2048 x 1536 resolution with 3.1 million pixels; plus 5-megapixel iSight camera lets you take photos and record full 1080p High Definition video..."

I'm thinking of buying this tripod http://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-MVH502A-546BK-Tripod-Mvh502A/dp/B005ZMWSC6/ref=sr_1_4?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1363745429&sr=1-4 with this jib crane http://www.amazon.com/ProAm-USA-DVC210-Camera-Crane/dp/B008CFY92K/ref=sr_1_8?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1363745891&sr=1-8 any suggestions. I like the price on the jib crane, and the length. If I have to buy a more expensive tripod I will.

Answer
It depends on the jib/crane + camera + lenses + mics + lights + the counterweights + anything else that will add to the weight that the tripod needs to support.

I use a Kessler crane + Hercules head on a K-Pod for a HDR-FX1 + all sorts of stuff. I can jump on the K-Pod and it is rock steady. I know nothing will collapse because of weight.

â¢Â Best Prosumer Level Camera for under $2000 & Advice â¢?

Tyler P

Hello Reader.

I'm a film student and I'm currently looking for a Prosumer Level Video Camcorder with a budget of $2,000. Our needs will be some outdoor footage, though nothing too fast-paced or demanding, some interviews, green-screen, and some indoor, on-set filming. Main use would be on a Camera Jib/Crane.

-I would like one that looks, and feels professional.

-I would like a Prosumer Camcorder, not a DSLR.

-I would perfer a camcorder with Digital Recording for SD Cards, but I can work with Mini DV Tapes and record with a FireStore. But I would perfer SD recording over DV as it is more economically feasible.

-Now tell me, would it be better to purchase a camera that can record onto SD Cards, or a camera with DV Tapes, with a flash storage FireStore. Which would be better quality? Remember, I need to transfer this footage onto a Computer.

Requirements:

â¢XLR Inputs
â¢Full 1920 x 1080p HD Resolution
â¢POWER Zoom
â¢High Definition Video Capture
â¢View Finder & LCD Screen
â¢Display Output (For External Video Displays)
â¢LANC Remote Input (Optional)
â¢Cinematone Gamma/Color
â¢High Frames per Second (Optional)
â¢Good in Low-Light Conditions (Optional)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your time, have a nice day.

The Canon XF series are all big camcorders that say the shoot full 1080p video and there are also the EOS Mark series that are all DSLR cameras but also say they shoot full 1080p video. Is the other one actually better quality or what? Is it different frame rates? And what is the difference in how they capture video? As you can see, I'm lost. Thanks a lot for any help.

Answer
They are very different cameras. The Canon XF series are great video cameras and they give you all the needed features for video cameras such as auto focus, built in nd filters, motorized zooms, and others. The only downside is the sensor that records the video on the cameras is small. This means that they will struggle a little in low light and will not offer the depth of field (blurred out background look) and large sensor cameras. This is the best/easiest way to go in most circumstances unless you are particularly needing to control the depth of field.

The DSLR cameras like the Canon EOS series have very large sensors that allow for great depth of field and low light performance. Unfortunately these cameras lack alot of the features you need in a video camera like auto focus (some have what they say is auto focus but it is useless in real life...you will need to focus manually) and motorized zooms. DSLR's give great quality but only if you can manually focus which will be difficult for moving subjects, don't plan on zooming often or at all, and have some form of stabilizer. Still you will have more issues with a DSLR than a regular video camera. I have seen some amazing results with DSLRs and use one myself, but you will need to pay great attention to every detail and will probably need to invest in some other equipment like a stabilizer or stabilized lens, variable ND filter, external mic (built in one is useless), follow focus, and a prime lens or one with a max aperture of f/2.8 throughout the zoom range (otherwise you won't get great depth of field).

What are some best DSLR cameras with the best HD camcorder experience?

Mark

I am willing to spend a lot of money on one of those DSLR cameras, that not only takes great pictures, but has the best quality also when it comes to digital recording with HD.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!!

Answer
I recommend the Canon EOS Rebel T3i. Although it is a DSLR, it shoots 1080p HD at 30 fps and 720p at 60 fps. It also has a flip- out vari angle 3" LCD screen in addition to the viewfinder. It also has several Video modes and auto focus points for easy filming. It has the universal Hot Shoe mount for a light and an External Mic input as well. It can film on an SD card, as well as Compact Flash storage.
I am also really into film making, and I plan on purchasing this camera for its superior HD Video quality. Hope this helps!

I'm considering on buying one.
I just want to know if it has more features than a regular digital camera / if its Better or not. because i have a Good digital camera that's about 10.2 mega pixels but i want Professional looking pictures and i think the different Lenses dslr cameras Have are amazing.
Any help would be nice! :) i don't know much..so! lol yes.

Answer
Well the major difference between a digital cams and DSL Rs is in the way of viewing the picture or the scene. Digital cams use LCD or an Electronic Viewfinder while the DSLR or the so called Digital Single Lens Reflex have the optical viewfinders, this means it consist of a return mirror and a pen ta prism.

Another difference between the two includes the chip size, Most DSL Rss use an imaging.
There are DSL Rs with 6 Mega pixel chips, and the digital cams with 8 Mega pixel, as far as I Know Mega pixels are only part of the image quality, and frequently not important. The Size and weight between the two are also different.

DSLR are excellent in image quality at low ISO level, lower noise at a high ISO level, have a wide range of exchangeable lenses, the availability of Image lenses, much brighter and clearer viewfinder compared to the digital cams. DSLR have a high frames rates even if you are in a RAW mode settings and allowing rapid shooting without freezing

Digital Cameras are smaller and lighter weight. The zoom lens is included depending on the price. No shutter and mirror noise. Macro shooting accessibility without other lenses depending on the model; Tilting and revolving the Lcds are allow for framing purposes at short angles. Depth of field at any given image exaggeration and the switching between LCD and E VF is slow.

DSLR don't have real-time histogram, the sensor dust is always a problem, shutter and mirror noise depends on the situation. Large size, particularly with long lenses while digi cams have more issues on viewfinder, slower focus, poor and noisy image quality when the ISO is greater than 100, limited multi frame shooting. Digi cams are slow in focus and can't shoot quickly. Digital Camera freezes for about 6-15 seconds after each RAW shot

I know that a nice video is subjective and everyone will have a different opinion. I am asking because I want to buy a camera that will take nice videos for uploading to YouTube. I don't want to invest a lot of money but I want to get something that will look pretty good and not grainy. Is something with 1000 pixels going to look bad after the video is uploaded? I have tried to research this but have found nothing that helps me. Thanks for you opinion!

Answer
Megapixels are used for measuring digital still image resolution, not video. Video resolution is measured using Horizontal line count and video quality is based on the amount of compression used.

Standard definition video = 480 horizontal lines.
High definition video = 720 or 1080 horizontal lines.

640 x 480 = standard definition video @ 4:3 aspect ratio = 307,200 pixels or about 0.3 megapixel.

1280 x 720 = high definition video @ 16:9 (widescreen) aspect ratio = 921,600 pixels or almost 1 megapixel.

1920 x 1080 = high definition video @ 16:9 (widescreen) aspect ratio = 2,073,600 pixels or about 2 megapixels.

The *QUALITY* of the video depends on the above AND the amount of compression applied to the video when it is captured and stored.

LOTS of compression = lots of discarded video data = lower video quality.
Less compression = less discarded video data and higher video quality.

Even "ultra high definition" video is referred to as "4k video".

Since we don't know which camera you have or what its video capabilities are, we have no way to know what sort of quality you'll get.

Tips:
1) Use LOTS of light when capturing video. Indoors, that means adding LOTS of light. Same with night video capture.

2) Use a tripod or other steadying device. Don't capture video handheld.

3) Don't expect good quality capture of REALLY LOUD or really low audio. Normal levels will be fine. Try to find a camcorder in your price range with some sort of manual audio control.

4) Get the camcorder close to where the people are speaking. If that is not possible, use an audio recorder (like a Zoom H1, or H2) and synch the audio later or use an external mic connected to the camcorder.

BUT, your step 1 is to set a budget. Camcorders can cost from $80 to $80,000. $500 is a reasonable mid-range consumer camcorder with a mic jack and some sort of audio control - like something in the Canon HF M series.

how many megapixels is the new nintendo dsi have in its camera?

Asa

the new ds(i) has a camera in it. how many megapixels is the camera?

Answer
All the answers below are wrong. Okay there are two camera's the first one which is situated on the front of the ds is 3 mega pixels (a very nice quality if we compare it to mobile phones) And the second camera, situated where the microphone was is 0.3 mega pixels which is a very low quality. Hope this clears things up for you.

ge 16 megapixel camera 8x zoom image
Q. More megapixel less zoom or more zoom less megapixel in a camera is better?for example 16 megapixel,8x zoom or 14.1mp with 12x zoom? And what really matters as in what factors, like iso, lcd,or width etc what should i consider in deciding which one is a better camera?

Answer
You're obviously looking at point and shoots with those specs. When in doubt go for more zoom. With the tiny sensors in P&S cameras anything over 12 MP is overkill. What you should consider most is brand name. IE: if you buy a Kodak, Polaroid, Samsung, GE, BenQ, you have wasted your money on crap. If you buy a Canon, Nikon, even the cheapest one is better than most manufacturers stuff.
