Go for the nokia N73 it's a great phone with a 3.2 MegaPixel camera and has 20x zoom plus is Symbian based and has lots of cool 3rd party apps avaliable and has many more features plus i think the phone will fall under your budget!!!

What would be your guess on how much the new T-Mobile Sidekick 2009/Blade will be?

Crying Man

The Sidekick 2009/Blade will have a 3.2 megapixel camera & recording, music player, 3G network, full QWERTY keyboard, et cetra.

With that, how much do you think the Sidekick 2009/Blade will be?

Thank you very much.

Answer
I would guess it to be $400 retail before contract, $250 w/ contract. Hopefully, it comes out soon.

I'm looking for a nice professional photography camera for cheap?

12 megapixel camera vs 18 image

Mitch D

I want a nice camera with fast speeds because i want to take pictures of extreme sports like BMX, skateboarding, and sports like that. I'm only 15 and I want to start getting into photography seriously and become a photographer. I want the camera around 1000 but if there's any other suggestions please post it so I can look at it.
around 1000

Answer
I recommend to anyone seriously contemplating the purchase of a new digital SLR camera to consider these two primary questions:

1. How much money do you have to spend????

2. What level of photography do you aspire to "progress to" in the coming years ? (i.e. basic beginner, intermediate, or professional/business use).

For most beginners to intermediates I usually suggest one of these two manufacturers: Canon vs Nikon

1. Canon EOS Rebel model XSi. (Also known as the Canon 450D in Britain)
The "kit" package comes with an 18-55mm zoom lens. The camera has pop-up flash, 12.2 Megapixels, and shutter speeds up to 1/4000th, 100-1,600 ISO sensitivity, 7 autoexposure Scene modes, PLUS Shutter Priority, Aperature Priority and Programmed Exposure Modes and Manual. It also has a 3 inch LCD screen, 3.5 frames continous per second max., 9 point AF system, Live View Functioning and the ability to record photos in 3, 6 or 12 Megapixels PLUS numerous other great features found only on more expensive cameras. Wal-Mart is also selling them now for about $799. Sam's Club also has them for $729.

I bought one of these 6 months ago and use it as my "back up" camera. I absolutely love it. I have gotten some fantastic photos with it and cannot praise it enough. I routinely enlarge my photos to make 8x10's and 11x14 size enlargements with no noticeable distortion or loss of detail in the pictures.

2. Nikon D-90: If you prefer to use Nikon equipment I strongly recommend the Nikon D-90 which has 12.3 Megapixels, 3 inch monitor with Live View, 200-3,200 ISO sensitivity, 11 point AF system with Face Priority, 4.5 frames per second in continous mode, 5 advanced Scene modes for auto exposure plus Shutter Priority, Aperature Priority, Programmed Auto plus Manual. The D-90 sells for around $900-950. (Body ONLY. The 18-55mm lens cost an additional $150.-175.) Typically, Nikon equipment is slightly more expensive than Canon equipment, but (having owned both Nikon and Canon cameras), I have seldom noticed BETTER quality results using Nikon equipment.

You might also consider the Nikon D-40 ($499) kit that comes with the 18-55mm lens.
Another great choice is the Nikon D-60 kit ($649) which also comes with the 18-55mm lens.

These selections are probably the best choices for any beginner to intermediate skill level, offering the most lenses and other accessories, dealers and places to purchase.

I strongly recommend that ALL beginners buy a good book on digital photography AND take a class or two from a Vocational school or Community Education Center in your area.

I live in Hamilton, ON. There are no signs posted and I can't seem to find any information online regarding this. The camera looks as if it is pointing straight at my house...into my 3 yr old daughters room! Now I may be mistaken, but I do know the 2nd camera seems to be pointed at their car which is parked on the street. I have asked and they do say yes they have cameras. Must it be posted? How much of the street or others house can be on the video? Or do they have to stop at their property line?

Answer
No

It is your private property do as you please.

Here is a DVR that will work perfectly for you.

http://www.ascendentgroup.com/x4s.htm

I would recommend a Standalone DVR as they are more reliable and since they are linux based they are virus ans spy ware free.

The X4S Series DVR is an intelligent and professional CCTV management solution, integrating the latest technology and the most advanced features while maintaining a simple, intuitive, and graphical interface. The X4S Series DVR is a 24/7 turn key solution that meets demanding security needs to suit industrial and commercial applications. The X4S DVR is compatible with the X4 platform, allowing it to act as an IP server, while still remaining a standalone solution and allows you to view your cameras instantly over the internet with a PC or cell phone like the I-phone.

For Cameras:
http://www.ascendentgroup.com/cameras.htm

also here is some information on DVR and cameras you may want to read before buying a CCTV system.

Not all DVRs and security equipment are created equal, in fact there are many options that offer varying performance much like the automobile industry. In the world of DVRs you can find the equivalent of a $10,000 Kia and a $350,000 Ferrari and everything in between. Both have 4 wheels and windshield but that where the similarities end, itâs under the hood that counts. Just like any other consumer electronic in the end you get what you pay for.

I suggest you buy a PC based DVR has they have more processing power and normally have a much smaller file size and offer more features then Standalone DVR's. I know many people buy a cheap standalone DVR, only to upgrade to a PC based in 6 months especially when they are using it to manage a store remotely. Also PC based allows you to record up to 64 cameras where a standalone will have a limit of 16.

Many people have the misconception that a PC-Based DVR is simply an off-the-shelf PC with video capture (encoder) cards, display (decoder) cards and some generic OEM software. A true DVR requires years of research and development to facilitate the seamless integration of both the hardware and software. DVRs are highly complex systems that must run 24/7, processing millions of images per day. This makes consumer-level hardware inadequate for DVRs which is why Ascendent uses custom-built PCs with performance-level hardware.

My personal favorite DVR is Ascendent X4 series: Ascendentâs Tri-Fusion Hybrid Platform allows for the creation of a true hybrid surveillance system by utilizing the advantages of Analog, Megapixel, and IP technologies for unparalleled customization and expandability. I am working on government projects and use Ascendent cameras and DVR because the offer superior performance and cost less then comparable brands like bosh, Honeywell and pelco.

The X4 also uses the latest H.264/SVC codec offer video substantially better quality,. While its file size sizes is 30% smaller than MPEG-4, 60% smaller than MPEG-2, and exponentially smaller than MJPEG.

File size is crucial to streaming because most DVRâs on the market record at real time performance (30FPS per channel) so on a 4CH is trying to send 120, 8CH 240, and a 16CH 480 images per second which requires way too much bandwidth even for the most extreme internet connections.

The smaller the files size the more images are able to be sent, and the faster they can be processed improving both FPS and speed. File size is the heart of any DVR and goes far beyond just its streaming capabilities, as it also determines the recording storage time, how much you can back up at once, how fast it renders and searches video. The file size of a DVR impacts the performance of the DVR in just about every aspect from speed to longevity and is often the most important spec of any DVR.

If you are buying a DVR and streaming is a high priority I suggest you ask for a demo and connect to the DVR to make sure it is able to stream fast enough for your needs. Most DVRs say they have remote viewing but it is often too slow and laggy to be of any use especially if it is a standalone. Some good DVR brands that I recommend are Bosch, Pelco, Honeywell and Ascendent. These brands are what security professionals use.

I recommend Ascendent as they are less expensive because they cameras for companies like Bosch and Pelco and offer better performance but any of these 3 brands will work well.

What size memory card is sufficient for a Canon Power Shot S110 camera?

Pete

What size memory card is sufficient for a Canon Power Shot S110 camera with 12 megapixels? I'm going on a trip for 2 weeks and I plan to take lots of photos and won't be able to upload them until I get home.

Best answer to whoever can help!

Thanks
The camera is compatible with SD, SDHC, and SDXC, but I'm curious as to how much memory is sufficient, not type.

Answer
That's a very good, advanced compact camera you have there. I own it's predecessor, the S100. If you're not able to transfer your images at the end of each shooting day, I recommend you DON'T buy just one very high capacity card. It's safer to buy two (or more) smaller capacity cards instead. Imagine if you have only the one memory card and on the very last day of your holiday, the card fails...you could easily lose the entire lot.

The chances that your card will fail are very slim, but it can happen. It's never, ever happened to me but it has to others. I recommend you buy a top quality reliable brand (e.g. Sandisk Extreme). You'll want a Class 10 SDHC card for best performance and for recording Full HD video.

According to your User Guide (page 333) you'll be able to shoot plenty of images (approx. 1379 Jpeg images per 8GB) or up to 29 minutes of Full HD video. You can even shoot in RAW, but that brings the total images down to about 446 per 8GB. Some may say to get 2 or 4GB...8GB is often a much better buy. It's your call.

You can buy memory cards anywhere in the world, so you could easily buy another if you had to.

Don't forget...you will NEED to format your brand new card or cards BEFORE using the very first time...via the camera Menu. Read about it in your User Guide (page 267-268). Also make sure you format your current memory card before going away (transfer all files from it before formatting the card).

Remember to give your camera battery a full charge each night or before you start out for the day...because it only lasts about 200 shots (less if using the flash or recording movies).

p.s. something I found...your camera has Wi-Fi capability that allows you to wirelessly send files to your smartphone or tablet (if you have one). You can also send files directly to websites such as Facebook or YouTube. If you're not in range of a Wi-Fi network you can still upload to your tablet or phone using Canon's CameraWindow app. Apparantly (according to DPReview) it works well...

highest megapixel camera in the world image

Simon Legr

I've seen 10 megapixel cameras but I'm sure there are ones higher than that. Please tell me what is the highest amount that technology has enabled us to create.

Answer
In a regular camera format, the Canon 1Ds Mark ll has 16.7 megapixels. It costs $7.000 without lenses.
For studio work, the Hasselblad mentioned above has 39 megapixels on a single sensor. It costs $30.000.
They could go larger... it's really just a matter of time, but for now it's cost prohibitive.
Some people have made 1 GIGApixels images (also mentioned above) but this is accomplished by stitching hundreds of smaller pictures together.

What is the next level up from a 12 megapixel camera?

bri

I want a professional camera that is digital. Do they make these or do they only have the mm film cameras?

Answer
Don't get lost in the Megapixel debate. If you're looking for a 'professional' quality camera, then you must move to (at least) a dSLR. And then forget about pixels.

If you have a 12.1Mp compact or bridge camera now, I can absolutely guarantee that any dSLR will hammer it for quality irrespective of the number of pixels. I still use an ageing 6 megapixel SLR that takes stunning photographs. It always will; and it will always beat a compact. The sensor physical size and the amount of (good) glass in front of it is what defines quality. A compact or bridge (superzoom) camera has a tiny sensor and miniscule optics. They don't get any better by adding more pixels (you could argue they get worse). The only reason they keep upping the pixel count is because the public drive the demand without knowing anything else about photography.

You could buy a Sony a850 or 900 with over 24 million pixels if you want, though.

Film arguably still has the edge over digital - but not in real-world resolution performance. Films have better exposure tolerances; they take longer to 'burn out' on highlights and they can record shadow areas better than digital sensors but your average high street printer removes these advantages by using poor printing techniques.

Electra

I want to know which DSLR camera is cheap and takes pictures of fine details that can look like modeling pictures.

I want fine image quality Do all DSLR cameras have the same image quality ?

Answer
You question alludes to one camera brand or model being better at shooting models, sports, editorial or other subjects than others.

If that were true, professional photographers would have to own many different cameras just to do their job. Lucky for us, this is NOT true.

Any dSLR can be used to shoot models, fashion or glamour. How the images turn out has all to do with their skills as a photographer, NOT the camera they happen to have in their hands at the time

About 2/3rds of my colleagues who shoot fashion use Nikon's and most of the rest use Canon's with one or two Sony or Pentax dSLR's in the mix

Where is a good place to buy a DSLR Nikon Camera?

Nathan

I need a Nikon DSLR Camera, and it needs to be cheap. (No more than 300$). I dont want to hear a place like Target or Fred Meyers, I want something like Ritz Cameras (It can't be Ritz). Also, if you know a good Nikon DSLR Camera (cheap) with a manual focus or a cheap lens with a manual focus, that would be great.

Answer
I have seen some good prices at Sam's Club.

But NO dSLR will cost you $300. Where did you get that price point for your budget?

$700 is closer the what you will need to spend.

The cost for a Nikon D5100 kit is about $650. The Nikon D3200, $700. The D3100 is $600.

These are not Canon specific, but the camera make/model doesn't matter, the principles are the same.

Is megapixels more important or optical zoom in cameras?

bigpill0w

I really want to buy the Samsung NX1000. It have 20.3 megapixels but only 2.5 optical zoom. Is that consider bad or good? I am a beginner in photography and want to take nice pictures. Should I get a compact system camera like this one or a slr/dslr camera?
I am going to be traveling soon and I will be taking pictures of people, landscape, etc But I want to take pictures during concerts and that's why I'm worry about the zoom.

Answer
Actually the size of the senor is more important than the number of pixels jammed on a sensor

A 6 mp sensor in a dSLR will out perform any P&S camera no matter how many pixels are on it.

As noted, the focal range of an interchangeable lens is not relevant except that it provides you the range you need for the subjects you tend to shoot.

When I shoot landscapes and architecture, I use a 12-24 mm super wide angle lens which in the P&S genre is a 2x lens. When I shoot sports, I use a 200-400 mm lens which would also be called a 2x lens, but it is a telephoto

Here is a link that shows you what different lenses "see"

http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/lens/simulator/

If you want a single lens solution for your camera, you need to look for a 18-200 mm lens

I am doing a survery to find out what the most requested cell phone model is. All you have to do is type the phone you want and what company sells it (ex. AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.)

Answer
In no particular order:

AT&T - The iPhone (cuz it's "cool" right now)
T-Mobile - The G1 (cuz it's "cool" in an "I'm not an iPhone lemming" kind of way)
Sprint - HTC Touch Pro (solid device on a not-so-solid carrier)
Verizon - Blackberry Storm (not an "iPhone killer", but a solid competitor)

The recurring theme is the touchscreen. It's very "in" right now. Other technologies that attract customers are accelerometers, high megapixel camera phones (5MP+ with geotagging, face recognition, flash, etc), and smartphones are consistently on the rise.

Ultimately it comes down to the user - what is your focus? SMS? Web/WAP? Content like games, apps, ringtones, wallpapers?

what's the difference between BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 and the blackberry curve 8520 for sprint?

So I took about 2 pictires of my on my 12 megapixel camera and they al looked good. Why is that? When I take a picture on a polarid/ kodak camera I look really better, but in my iohone it looks different. And my iPhone pictures don't look bad but on my camera I can take one photo and look like I do in the mirror. I am a model so I do find this weird.

Answer
Most phones do not have good cameras. I remember a friend told me that there phone did but it wasn't an iPhone. The better the lens, the better the camera. I don't like heavy cameras because I move and ruin the shot. So a light weight camera is the best. Do a comparison on line but I'm sure it will take you some time to do

How do I take pictures/videotape the night sky?

YourGodIsS

I have an Olympus Stylus-9000 12 megapixel camera (nothing fancy, not a professional camera) And I'm really interested in sky watching, but I cant take pictures because its too dark and you cant see anything. So is there some way I can mess with the camera settings to make it see the stars and stuff?

Answer
I'm going to be honest with you, shooting the night sky is not as easy as one might think. There are many factors other than your camera that make a difference.

First off, your eyes are much more sensitive to light than your camera is. While you might think stars are bright, your camera doesn't. Your brain also does a terrific job of separating things that are bright and things that are dark, and tells your eyes to make bright things look darker, and dark things to look brighter, so you end up seeing a balanced photo.

Cameras aren't so smart. Well, not yet at least. Ever wonder why shadows in afternoon sunlight look so much darker on your camera than they did when you saw them with your own eyes? Things that we might not think are very bright or significant make a much bigger difference on a camera. This is especially true when shooting pictures at night. Light sources like city lights and the moon are actually really bright and will hide away the stars from your image.

So, the first thing you need to watch out for when taking starfield photos are other sources of light, especially the moon. The best results are on a new moon. And try to get as far from the city as possible. You'll also need to wait quite a while after dusk.

The other thing is your camera. You're almost definitely going to need to use manual settings on your camera, most cameras don't have a preset for star field photography. If you've ever tried manual settings, you may have discovered the "ISO" menu. A higher ISO is more sensitive to light, and a lower ISO is less sensitive to light. High ISOs are typically better because you can take pictures handheld without shaking, but lower ISOs have a clearer image that doesn't look as grainy (lots of tiny little dots in the picture). One might expect that you should use a high ISO when shooting at night, but it is in fact quite the opposite. High ISOs make dark parts of the image look super-grainy, so your black sky will be littered with tiny dots. To avoid this, you'll need a way to stabilize your camera (a tripod is usually best, but you can get creative) and use a low ISO to keep the dark sky smooth. I'd use ISO 200, but I suggest you don't go higher than ISO 800 if you absolutely need to go higher. Turn off the flash and use a slow shutter speed (15-30 seconds is usually enough, depending on how clear your sky is).

The last thing that can be a problem (if you do everything else right) is your actual camera. Small cameras like yours are great for about 90% of images, but unfortunately starfields may fall under the 10%. Most portable cameras (exceptions include the Fuji X100 and Leica X1) have a really small image sensor, so they don't characterize tiny light sources (stars are basically point sources) very well. I know this isn't what you're going to want to hear, but slide film actually works best for starfield photography. But that isn't saying your camera is incapable, especially if you pay close attention to the light. The most important factor is the light that may be polluting your image. While the camera may be an issue, its not the deciding factor (its almost never the camera's fault, almost always the light you throw at it).

As far as video goes, I have little advice other than to take multiple photos and put them together as a movie. Most of the dazzling starfield videos you see are done this way.

Good luck!

What's the difference between an SLR and a digital camera? (10 Points)?

Aside from the difference in quality?
And can anyone recommend the best camera under £200 for taking high quality photos?
Thanks!

Answer
sometimes there is no difference (after all, some SLR cameras are digital).

There is no "best". There are many good cameras. For your price range, you might have to get a used dSLR.

Where can I get a used professional grade camera?

persona_es

Where can I get a used professional grade camera in good condition for under $200? With the "tube thing" on front to zoom with? Without video capability.

Answer
you will be able to find an older film camera used from ebay or craigslist for around $200, but you will not be able to find anything digital in your price range....on a side note, if you are calling a lens a "tube thing" I'm not sure you're quite ready to step into a world of SLRs and DSLRs...

what the difference between 14 mega pixel DSLR camera and 14 mega pixel point and shoot camera?

Sezar

hi i was wondering why there is big difference in price between both cameras that both for example 14 mega pixel, the point and shoot is very lower than DSLR PRo camera while both are the same mega pixel, does the DSLR 14 MP shoot clearer pictures than the point and shoot that also has 14 MP ?

Answer
When it comes to cameras, size matters - sensor size, that is.

14 megapixels means that the digital sensor on each camera is divided into 14 million sectors. It's the size of the sensor that makes the difference.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Image_sensor_sizes_in_current_digital_cameras_(updated_as_of_Sep._21st_2011).png

For example. you could buy a very nice Honda Accord with a 6 cylinder engine that gives you 278 hp. Or, you could get a Porsche 911 Turbo with a 6 cylinder engine, as well. Guess which one has more oomph? The Porsche will rock you back into your driver's seat with 530 hp.

As you can see, the number of cylinders the engine is divided into is not the sole factor in the performance of the car. With cameras, the sensor size, the optics in the lenses (especially when you can use interchangeable lenses for different situations), the wider range light metering, and the full manual controls that let an experienced photographer maximize their skills win over megapixels.

Frankly, any well-made older 6mp dslr from Nikon, Pentax, or Canon will shoot rings about most 14mp compacts.

what is the best time of year to purchase an DSLR camera?

samantha

id love to know when is the best time to purchase a DSLR. im looking into investing in a great camera with outstanding picture quality and technology. Where can all the good deals be found? what time of year is perfect for this sort of purchase?

Answer
The best time would be when the camera maker of your choice announces newer models. Then, if you don't have to have the "latest & greatest", you can get great mark-down deals on the previous models. It's like buying cars. When the 2012 models are arriving, it's a great time to buy a new 2011.

Hi, I just wanted to know, what are your suggestions, in the best dslr camera (any brand) considering the price, performance, and it's specialty. I'm currently using a Fujifilm Finepix S9500. It's my first dslr, and it's quite slow, and it has a fixed lens. I'm planning on looking for a better dslr. I use the camera for our church. Covering events like, sermons, parties, seminars, fellowships, concerts, and baptismal.
So, I need a camera that's quick, adjustable to present conditions, and can produce high-quality images even in harsh lighting conditions.
I'm looking for a camera that is good will a the events above. And I'm really praying for a better one.
Any suggestions?

Answer
"What is the best dslr camera for an all around photography?"

Whatever you can afford. New kits start around $600, while some decent used ones might be found for half that with luck.

"So, I need a camera that's quick, adjustable to present conditions, and can produce high-quality images even in harsh lighting conditions."

*No* camera does that. Screw anyone that tells you otherwise.

DSLRs require quite a bit of attention by the shooter. There is a point where shooting conditions get so bad that you have to improve them yourself or forsake the shotâeven the top-tier DSLRs can't do all of the work. Only experience can tell you when you need to add flash, have someone hold a bounce card by the door, bracket for exposure and spend some time in Photoshop, or try the shot tomorrow when lighting is better.

Church photography? Splurge on a good pan/tilt flash head and a decent wide aperture lens. Maybe even consider installing brighter indoor lighting. These will have much more effect on your images than the camera body.

Filters for DSLR camera to make my pictures look more dreamy?

Jessica

I want a filter for my DSLR camera to make them look cooler and more dreamy. Any suggestions?

Answer
Not quite sure what you mean, but you can alter white balance to get a 'cooler' look (best to shoot in raw & alter WB in post).

Ditto filter effects - best applied in software - that way you have the base image to play around with. If you must do it 'in camera' then there were a couple of techniques used in film days;
- stretch a sheer nylon stocking over the lens
- use a thin smear of Vaseline on a cheap UV filter attached to the lens (never smear anything directly onto the lens!)

What is the point of having digital cameras with so many megapixels but all the photos are compressed?

Dan.K

My camera is an 8 megapixel camera and even at it's highest setting, it compresses at 4:1. There is no option to shoot in RAW either. What good is 8 megapixels if the files are just going to be compressed anyway?

Answer
It is actually best to use a 3 MP setting, but read more on this at the links below. Digital really means software programs do the work and record innformation with bytes and bits like a computer. All cameras shoot in RAW and then convert that to the pictures you see. Some cameras let you see the RAW and use that to make your picture manually.

Check the Memory Card Storage Table at this link:
http://www.digitalphotographywebsite.com/memorycardstoragechart.html ...

The number of pictures that memory will hold depends on the mega pixel setting on your camera. My camera will hold about 900 pictures with a 1 GB memory card and a setting of 3 mega pixels. It will take 84 minutes of video at 30 fps. Could use a 5.2 mega pixel setting, but there would be no improvement in picture quality.

Most companies are touting high mega pixel to sell cameras, but high mega pixel settings take longer to process and may not be needed unless required for very large pictures or enlarging small parts of pictures. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches. Click the following links to see the this in detail.
http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=398&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=2039 ...
http://www.danscamera.com/Learning/going_digital/#resolution ...

If there are no memory card slots on your computer, purchase a Targus card reader at Walmart for $8.88 or another brand for less at Ritz/Wolf/Kit camera. Also, they do 3½ x 5" digital prints for 6¢ each on Tuesday and Wednesday.

CAUTION To prevent memory card corruption, keep batteries charged and don't delete. Wait for lights to stop flashing then turn camera off before removing memory. For card readers, double click Safely Remove Hardware. Select then click Stop and OK.

Hello you need a DVR and Camera

2 types of DVR's Standalone and PC based

Brand names who make good DVR's make good cameras.
I recommend Ascendent, Bosch, Pelco, Honeywell: Ascendent is best price and conformance but they are less well known.

These brands are what security professionals use, Q-see, Swan and Lorex are only used in residential applications because they are sold by Tiger Direct, Spytown, Newegg, Sams Club, Costco and other retail outlets but are not used by any security professionals also their tech support rarely speaks English as their first language...

These brand manufacturers also have a complete line of CCTV cameras for any application from residential to military.

http://www.honeywell.com
http://www.pelco.com/
http://www.bosch.com

I have done projects that required cameras to stream over satellite and cellular networks and the only DVR that could provide the video streaming was Ascendent Technology Groupâs X3 DVR. To give you an example of what a good DVR should stream like, below are instructions on how to connect to Ascendent's X3 DVR using Internet Explorer.

Instructions on how to connect to Ascendentâs DVR with Internet Explorer:

1) http://connect.ascendentgroup.com/ (Must be Internet explorer)
2) Install active X control
3) Hit âConnect)
4) DVR type PC
5) DVR code SITE-100
6) User ID Demo (case sensitive)
7) Password demo (lower case)
8) Hit extend config
9) IP address: 24.66.224.223
10) And hit connect

Again I recommend going with a PC based DVR but if you don't want to spend the money I suggest Ascendent's AVP-4120 DVR or Pelco's DX-4000 as they will allow you to view all your cameras instantly from anywhere in the world using either IE. The AVP-8240DVDUSB will also allow MAC platforms as well as PC to remotely view cameras and it uses the new H.264 codec but no standalone will offer the video streaming or performance a good PC based DVR will.

What would be better a Nintendo 3DS or an iPad 2?

megapixel camera 3ds image

Chris

I have an ipad and I was thinking about buying the new iPad 2 for my bday present. But then I heard about the nintendo 3ds and it sounds really cool but I don't kno witch one to buy now because both of them are really impressive. So should I stick with the ipad or should I get something new and different like the 3DS? And what would be some good reasons on why to buy the iPad 2 or the 3DS.

Answer
It all depends on what you want. Both devices are different. Here are some of their features, look through them and see which one suits you best:

Nintendo 3DS pro's:

-Can display full 3D without the need for special glasses
-It can take 3D pictures! Buying a camera that does this costs a lot, but you get it built in the 3DS!
-Higher quality games than the iPad has - 3DS games will last you a lot longer than iPad games, and will most probably be more fun
-You can watch movies and TV sports in 3D!
-You can buy and download additional game content and updates from the Nintendo e-shop
-It is smaller and lighter than the iPad 2, so it is more portable
-You can browse the internet, use facebook, youtube etc. just like on your PC
-You can play games online wirelessley
-You can add people to your 'friends list' - then you can see what games they are playing, you can play with them online, and you can send text messages, drawings (which you make with the 3DS touch screen) or pictures to them
-It can play augmented reality games - these games work by you putting a small card on your table. Then, the 3DS will make a game on your table! To see what I mean, click on the link below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14_EDenxvro - that is a guy playing on his table

Here are some videos of how games look and play on the 3DS:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSvOy_SqNVI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J8IX1mmCTk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A_1IDwX0Cw

Nintendo 3DS cons:

-Even though it can take 3D pictures, it does so at a rather low resolution of 0.3 megapixels (640x480)
-The 3DS has a much shorter battery life than the iPad 2 (it only has 3-5 hours with the 3D effect on, and 5-8 hours with the 3D effect off)
-The 3DS touch screen is very good, however it isn't as responsive and sensitive as the iPad 2's
-Adding friends to your list can be annoying as you need to exchange 12-digit number codes to do so

iPad 2 pro's:

-It has a bigger screen the the 3DS
-It has a lot of free apps, the 3DS's cost money
-You can use live video chat just like with a webcam on your PC
-It has a longer battery life (it lasts roughly 9-10 hours)
-It is capable of faster web-browsing and internet usage
-It has more built in software
-It comes with a larger 'harddrive' (it comes with 16GB - 64GB, whereas the 3DS has 2GB)

iPad 2 Cons:

-Big games like Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, Super Mario and Assassin's Creed are almost never available for the iPad, and when they are it is often a cheaper, less fun version
-The iPad 2 costs a lot more than the 3DS (it costs a minimum of £325, whereas the 3DS can be found for a minimum of £195)
-The iPad 2 takes longer to charge up once the battery has drained
-It cannont take 3D pictures or 3D video like the 3DS, and its picture resolution is also very low (0.7 megapixels)

So really, its down to what you want. If price is an issue, then go for the 3DS as it can be found for up to £125 cheaper. If its not an issue, then look at what they can do. The 3DS will offer amazing 3D without glasses, it is also one of the first machines ever to take real 3D pictures, it allows you to watch 3D movies and sports, and will have better games. However, gaming is the main feature of the 3DS. So, if you don't like to play games, or only play them from time to time, then the 3DS might not be for you. The iPad is less portable, but offers live video chat, a better, larger screen along with more space to store pictures and videos, and faster internet connections.

I hope I've helped, and happy birthday!

Which is a better buy Nintendo 3DS or a good camera with or higher than 14Megapixels?

Rona

I'm saving to buy one of these two items on December of next year. Please help me to decide. I love gaming but I love photography too.

Answer
You should get a 3DS! Although it's camera isn't as good as the 14 Megapixel camera you mentioned, it does have the ability to let you view photos in 3D while a regular camera cannot!

Also, it has much more functions and Nintendo is announcing a system update around November that allows you to record videos with your 3DS!

Another thing to note is that the camera has a bunch of fun effects! I've had so much fun using the sparkle effect from using it.

The 3DS itself has much more functions than a regular camera as well and it can all be bought for around $170 dollars while high megapixel cameras cost a bit more.

-My sister has a camera and I have a 3DS. I use the 3DS way more than my sister's use of her camera. Just saying :)

Hope this helps!

What quality is a 1.3 megapixel camera like?

omg_shoes

I'm getting a new phone and I want good camera quality.
Can somebody show me what a 1.3 megapixel picture looks like?

Answer
Cameras in phones tend to produce poor quality images, especially when compared to digital cameras with the same resolution. Generally speaking a 1.3 megapixel image would be good for emailing and posting online.

When viewed on a monitor, the image would be a nice size and show detail without much distortion. Printed images would be different.

Megapixels refers to the size of an image, not the quality. The approximate size of a 1.3MP image would be 1280X1024 (in pixels), which is what many people use as their monitor resolution these days. Printed, it would only produce a print of about 3X5 inches before the image would start to look bad. Basically, the viewable size would be the same as your monitor screen, but the printed size would be much smaller. The real indicator of quality is PPI (DPI) which is the number of printable pixels per inch in a given image. Some 1.3MP cameras can produce images with 200 PPI while others only have 72 PPI. This is where the difference in viewed and printed images comes from. The lower the PPI, the lower the quality of the image. Most 1.3MP camera phones I know of only produce 72 PPI images.

Bear in mind that camera phones don't have a flash or any modes for taking pictures. The sensor and mechanism tend to be a one size fits all proposition which means many pictures don't fair well, especially if they are moving or in low light.

This camera phone would be a good choice for saving images to share online, but not so good for printing for a photo album.
