What is a good camera??
megrojo
I recently broke my Kodak EasyShare camera. I liked the camera okay, but was not impressed with the Kodak software. Now, I am camera shopping and these are things I am looking for:
-ability to take crisp "sport" pictures (my younger brother plays basketball and those pictures are important to me)
-at least 6 mega pixels
-good night pictures
I have looked at the Sony Cyber-shot 8.1 MP model DSC-H9.
I just don't know what exactly to be looking for as far as features go, because I am not a photographer!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Answer
I've always been a fan of Cybershots, and my digital camera I've had for the last 4 years was a DSC-p32. It only had 3.2 megapixels, but it was a great camera. I finally decided it was time to splurge a little and upgrade, and after reading tons of reviews and giving in to buying something other than cybershot, I got a Canon PowerShot SD750. It has a stabilization feature which is amazing, an internal image processor which "fixes" particular blur in pictures (as if that ever happens with this camera), and a face detection feature that makes sure faces in pictures always come out clear. It is great. I chose it over a 12 megapixel sony because of its amazing ability to take blur-free pictures. That was my main complaint with my other camera... it's shutter speeds were so long that you had to hold the camera completely still for like 5 seconds just to get a steady still picture. This camera isn't has a particular setting for pets and kids (among many other things), so taking pictures of sports will be a breeze. Also, the video is amazing and can be hooked right up to your TV for easy viewing. You can even take pictures while it is connected.
Trust me... you will NOT be disappointed with this camera. This is a picture I took with is the first day I had it, without messing with any settings.

That picture is of course a million times smaller than the actual one, and it was taken of a very active puppy. If you have any other doubts, pick one up at a store, zoom it in on one of the TVs they have playing in the store of a video game demo, and take a picture. Watch as it "clarifies" the image right before your eyes. Then focus the camera on a group of unsuspecting shoppers, and watch as it detects each of their faces and even follows them if they walk behind an aisle out of view. It is amazing! It's also easy to use, even after I was so used to my CyberShot.
I purchased mine a week ago at Target, and I also got a 1 GB SD memory card, but it does come with a smaller card when you purchase it.
