I am using a fujifilm finepix s2850hd. I don't know if I screwed up a setting but when I take pictures of people I would like the eyes to be sharp. If I have 14 megapixels so it should be taking amazing photos. Is their a way to put high resolution on or somehting? Thanks.

Answer
It's not the resolution: it's the image quality.
What's happening is that the physical image is sharp on the sensor, just that you may have the "digital zoom" feature turned on. What happens here is that the sensor only pays attention to a certain part of your image instead - and you're starting to see individual pixel clumps rather than the whole image.

The other thing - is this happening at night? When the sensor doesn't get enough light, the camera's CPU kicks in to enhance the light... but then stray light can trigger off the sensor in the form of "noise". This happens when the ISO settings are too high for your sensor - which results in grainyness. Nothing you can do about that without using a flash.

Lastly - pixel counts mean nothing these days. What 14MP means is that they have a lot of dots crammed together on a sensor - so if you blow it up for printing on an A2 page, you'll get a crisp image. Low MP (e.g. 1MP) counts can't be blown up easily to poster size without seeing individual dots - the equivalent of looking back at an early GameBoy game and seeting the individual squares.

If you want the sharp clarity, you're best to go asking your close friends with more experience in photography - not only can they explain what you're doing wrong, but also give you guidance in how to make it better. I'm not telling you to be a master, just that if you love to do luvos, you get VERY good at choosing your favourite camera settings, and spinning the camera around for a crisp luvo even at night - some of my friends are VERY good at that.

my only problem is that paint wont let me reduce the size of the pictures. the pictures were taken on a 14 megapixel camera. does anyone know to do this? please and thanks.

Answer
You may have to reduce the overall size of your images if they were made at a high resolution. You can use any good graphics editor (NOT MS Paint) to set the size and DPI. Just be sure to rename your images before saving so you don't overwrite your original images.
