I have a friend who has a Canon 40D,
and recently she can turn it on, take a picture, but instead of the picture comes up it immediatly comes up "ERROR 99"
Wondering if anyone knew what ERROR 99 was?
She's already tried cleaning the contacts on the memory card and batteries..
Thank you so much!
Whoever is giving the thumbs down on the answers I have so far I would really love an answer instead of you just giving them thumbs down?!

Answer
Error 99 is a catch-all error code for Canon. U can try cleaning the lens contacts and the contact in the camera for the lens to see if that resolves the problem. If not, U need to send the camera in for service. Sorry to hear that yor friend's Canon dSLR isn't working.

is there a canon 7d underwater case?

If not what are some good high quality ( profesional camera that goes underwater)

Answer
The Aquatech for the 7D is only rated to 10m. If you're a scuba diver this won't be enough. I have a Sea & Sea housing for my Nikon and they are highly regarded housings. A Sea & Sea (rated to 100m) for a 7D is £3000 though (not including ports).

An Aquatica (rated to 90m) is £2450. An Ikelite (the cheapest brand) is £1270 (again excluding ports).

Ports and strobes are additional - ports vary from a couple of hundred quid for a flat port (for a macro lens) to about £500 for a dome port (for wide angle lens). A single strobe, arm & sync cord is about £600, a dual strobe setup about £1000.

Underwater photography is not cheap - my setup cost in the region of £4000 (not including camera/lenses).

If you do buy a rigid housing, test it first in a pool with no camera. Work all the buttons/levers & check for leaks. After every dive, wash thoroughly in fresh water. Before every dive remove, clean & re-grease and re-seat the O ring seals. 99% of housing floods are poor maintenance/user error.

There are no 'professional' cameras built for underwater, only point & shoots. If you want your DSLR underwater you have to buy a rigid housing for it (or buy a point & shoot).
