High resolution for digital camera?

Q. I have a Panasonic DMC-FX01 digital camera. Does any one know how to take 200 or 300 dpi images? is it even possible?

Answer
Set the camera to 2 or 3 megapixels resolution (or whatever you want up to its max of 6 megapixel). 100 dpi is roughly 1 megapixel.

difference in 5 and 10 megapixel cameras?

whats the difference in the pictures.?
is it worth the money.?

Answer
Megapixel resolution is about potential photo size, not picture quality.

Most companies are touting high mega pixel to sell cameras, but high mega pixel settings take longer to process and may not be needed unless required for large pictures or enlarging parts of pictures. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches.

Would choose a 3 MP setting unless you plan to print a photo larger than 8 x 10 inches. You actually lose picture quality when you crop a higher MP photo down to a smaller size. It also takes more money, memory space, processing, and transmission time with a higher setting.

What is a good camera with a high DPI resolution?

on Thread: How large can I make a 6 megapixel photo?
megapixel camera resolution image
Q. I currently have an old 1.5 megapixel camera, and the images have poor DPI resolutions. I have picked up photography as a hobby, but would like more professional resolution photos (finding subjects and setting up the shots hasn't been the problem). I am looking for something affordable, because the Canon Rebel XTi, is WAY out of my price range.

Answer
The only place you will see DPI is when you shoot and save your images as JPEG's. Each camera company sets this in the cameras firmware. You cannot change that.

That said, you will see soon enough that only DSLR camera bodies will give you the quality images you wish to achieve. So, rather than be frustrated for the years it will take you to save your pennies for a DSLR, look on craigslist for used DSLR cameras ... Nikon and Canon have the most entry level cameras to choose from ... and many come with lenses.

How many pictures can a 32mb memory card hold on a 12.1 megapixel camera?

I have a canon elph and i have a 32 mb memory card, how many can that hold on my 12.1 megapixel camera.

Answer
Depends on how you set the resolution. Probably 20 or less. Sweep up around the safe and spend a few bucks on an SD card. You can get a couple gig for less than $10 these days.
