I have heard that it is a 5 megapixel camera a .7 megapixel camera...how many megapixels does it really have?

Front Camera - I believe 0.6MP - Has VGA quality Resolution - 640x480 Same As iPhone
Back Camera - 0.7 Mega Pixels (960x720 Resolution)

What camera would you recommend for a college student?

I don't need any of those fancy professional models. I want a 7-10 megapixel camera with a good zoom, pretty compact, nice LCD screen, SD memory card compatible. Effects and such would be a bonus, as would included accessories (other than the standard necessities).

I currently own a 6.1 megapixel Kodak EasyShare Z760. Basically, anything lighter and smaller would be an upgrade, and exactly what I want. Any suggestions?

Fuji makes some nice cameras that may fit your wants. Check out the link below. You can actually find this model at stores other than Wal Mart, it's just to show you the specs. They also come in different colors.
