is a 14 megapixel camera good?

Jazz L

is a 14 megapixel a good or great quality its also 5x optical zoom and its a Kodak im becoming very interested in photo shooting and i want to know if this is the best to buy

Answer
More important than the number of mega-pixels is the quality of the lens, the sensor/electronics etc. You'll find kodak cram in more gimmicks and unnecessary features into their cameras than anyone else, often to try to compensate for the poor build quality.

Figure out how much you can spend (stretch yourself) and buy the camera in that price area that gets the best reviews based on independent sites. If you keep to the cameras that get good reviews the odds are it will be less than 14MP and not a Kodak!

What is a good camera for a 14 year old?

dn

I want a point and shoot camera that takes quality pictures but is still compact.
I know that your not suppose to go for high megapixel point and shoots because they are loud or something but i still want one that takes great pictures.
I like taking pictures outdoors and in and has good zoom, no digital please! Also no Kodak, i hate those.

To recap:
Good megapixel for point-and-shoot
Great picture quality
Outdoors and Indoors
Optical zoom
No Kodak

THANKS!!!
(money does matter btw, got money for christmas! :))
When i say digital i mean digital zoom, sorry! :)

In new cameras, look for optical viewfinders (LCD invisible in bright sun) and check battery prices. High mega pixel settings take longer to process and may not be needed unless required for very large pictures or enlarging small parts of big pictures. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches. Click links below for more details.

Just saw this camera at Best Buy and think it is a great camera and a best buy. It has an optical viewfinder, image stabilizer, auto focus, and uses NiMH rechargeable batteries. Read as much of the following as you can for other information and help with choosing a camera.
Canon A590IS $129.99 at Staples yesterday.

There is no one particular place to get great buys, but you may see something above that really helps you find the best buy. Click on the link in the information above for an example then search for your camera of choice at the upper left. Camera prices at this link change often.

While most of the cameras out there are really good, I would choose Canon over Nikon because it seems like more camera for the money. Some would say Canon withholds their best technology for high end cameras and Nikon implements their best at all levels. Before you decide, read all the text and links in the information below because it will help you know what to look for in a camera.

There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The second source link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices. The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera.

What gives a camera its picture quality?
The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures.

Lots of great camera tips in these two links. http://www.danscamera.com/Learning/going_digital/#resolution ...

Check this more for the money camera. FUJIFILM - FinePix 10.0-Megapixel Digital.
Life time Warranty (Parts & Labor).

Wide-angle shooting, a 12x optical zoom and picture stabilization mode combine in this camera for exceptional shooting performance, even at a distance. Plentiful scene modes, autofocus and automatic white balance controls make this camera a snap to operate. You may be able to find it on the Internet for a lower price.

This could be the best slim line camera with a viewfinder. It's PINK!

The information about my camera is just to show that you don't need the biggest and best. Just know how to use the one you have.

My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7 x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.

Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don't believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. Just learned that my camera has red-eye prevention and correction. It also has adaptive lighting. You may be able to view owners manuals at this link, but will need to Login. http://www.retrevo.com/s/digital+camera ...

The source links will show most of the cameras out there with prices and help make your digital cameras work better.

second is. 14.1MP. 4x optical zoom, sony camera- $119
and last is canon sx120- 10x optical zoom, 10mp. $129

which one do i choose?

Answer
never buy a camera for the brand! cameras change a lot from camera to camera!!! also generally speaking if you want good photos choose cameras with less megapixels and less zoom!!! the more megappixels the less sensitive (worse iq) a camera is! also when you have so much zoom in so little space they have to cramm in a ton of glass in a little area causing photos to be soft. for under 150 the best camera is the pentax optio h90. here is a review
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/2010-budget-camera-shootout
buy it here for 110
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/673640-REG/Pentax_16501_Optio_H90_Digital_Camera.html/

our second otion would be the canon sx120 (the one you liked). here is a review

is this a good digital camera choice?

I'm thinking of getting this camera but I can't decide if this is a good choice or not(not the color though,I plan to get it in blue).I've heard that Kodak sucks so I also wanted to know if this is a good brand or not.I also saw the reviews and saw that it was pretty good..I'm only 14 so I don't need a really fancy camera, just a simple one to take pictures with friends and family.

Answer

What kind of Nikon is best for a semi-beginner photographer?

14 megapixel kodak camera reviews image

I am a teenager who just got into photography about two years ago. For Christmas 2011 I got A Kodak Easyshare Camera and it was great for just getting started, but I am ready to upgrade. I have fallen in love with photography (no specific kind, just a little of everything that inspires me) and I have gotten a lot of compliments on my pictures. I really hope to start a little business while I am in High school. I don't know when I'll be able to get a new camera but I still want to do a little research and figure out what I want next. It's proven to be very difficult though, as I am still such an amateur and just end up confused every time I try to look something up. Just trying to figure out about different kinds of lenses has been confusing. All I want is something a few steps above what I have now, and at a decent price. (say $300 tops) Here is what I really want out of my next camera:
- Different color options. (I figure most high quality cameras have that, but I take more black and whites than anything else, so that is essential.)
- A good zoom. (Mine takes an eternity to focus, and even if it finally does the picture is often fuzzy.)
- High-quality definition. (Mine has pretty great definition sometimes, but others it's not much more than any average digital camera.)

I am really considering a Nikon, so here's the bottom line of this question: For all you photographers out there, what would you consider a good Nikon for a beginning photographer to take her pictures to the next level? I am so thankful for the camera I have now, but honestly, I would be a little embarrassed to show up to take someone's portraits or something with it. Thanks so much in advance!!

Answer
You must go for NIkon D3100, best camera for the beginner photography.

You can have detailed information regarding this model from the link below:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R33LNUMEWSVG00/ref=cm_cr_pr_permie=UTF8&ASIN=B003ZYF3LO&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=tawevaw-20

This will be in your price range approximately. Main features of camera are:
14.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS image sensor; 3-inch monitor with One-Touch Live View shooting and movie capture.
3x 18-55mm Zoom-NIKKOR VR Image Stabilization lens.
Full 1080p HD Cinematic Video with full-time auto focus and sound and it is very friendly to use above all which will be very helpful for you in learning the techniques of photography too.

im getting a camera (digital ) as part of my christmas gift and i was wondering if people can provide links of some digital cameras for a 14 year old ( i prefer a purple camera but ill take a black, red,or different color camera..) thanks so much

Answer
Well if you are looking for a megapixel camera and an amazing camera try nikons or sonys they are amazing.

If you are only looking for color, search cameras that come in that color.

Sony DSC T2s are amazing, they don't come in color though.
Check out the sony cybershots they are amazing!

ORRR
go to polaroid.com
and they have gorgeous purple cameras

and ebay purple cameras
and i think Kodak has one too.

Do your research before you buy though.
Like, read reviews, go to bestbuy.com, ebay, circuitcity.com, etc...
