Because I really like the camera, but would it work out cheaper to just buy a new one?

Answer
Parts $40-$75. At least $75 in labor. That works for a DSLR or a very high end compact but for anything simpler it's just not economically feasible.

How to test camera and lens?

I dropped my DSLR camera and Lens. Since then it feels like there is a problem with focus. With the lens that dropped and even if I use other lenses on the camera.
Is there a test to see if the camera is damaged and if the lens is damaged?

Answer
Sure.

Set your camera to its highest resolution.

With the camera mounted on a tripod, in bright sun, take some shots in the manual mode, f/16 @ 1/ISO of your sensor.

Take the same shot with each of your lenses.

View all of the resulting images at 100% on your computers monitor. Any focus shifts or exposure issues will show up right away.

The best way to assure the camera is not too damaged, is to send it into the makers repair center and have them check it out
