What are the pros and cons of the new iPad and Macbook Pro?

?

I have some money saved up and I'm considering buying an iPad. I'm also throwing around the idea of a macbook pro. Can someone give me a comparison of the two? I'd also like to know the pros and cons of the iPad and Macbook Pro. I would prefer a list if possible. Thanks in advance :D
Can you use iMessage on the new iPad without having a cellular data plan for it?

Answer
Pros of ipad 3:
1. Sleek new screen, incredibly refined and mature.
2. A large app and media store, and a 5-megapixel rear camera for 3D photos.
3. The third-generation iPad will feature a Retina Display that offers double the resolution and four times as many pixels as the iPad 2 and users will be able to use the iPad without actually touching the iPad. Basically, wherever you look on the iPad screen, the camera will recognize through the use of constant retina scanning.
4. Heavy application loads 6 seconds faster than iPad 2.

Cons of ipad 3:
1. More heavier than the iPad 2.
2. Bigger battery means increased recharge time.
3. The new iPad gets warm.
4. apps and movies utilize more space.
5. Although the iSight camera has improved. The front-facing âFacetimeâ camera remains VGA which is not good for video chatting.

Should I get the iPod Touch 4 or the Samsung Galaxy player 4?

I was going to get the new touch, but saw mediocre reviews on the camera, which is one of the main reasons I wanted to get a new one (I have the ipod touch 3g). I haven't found any reviews on the Galaxy Wifi 4.0, but it looks intriguing, with its 3.2 megapixel camera and Android software. Anyone know anything about this?

Answer
i do. the Samsung galaxy player 4.0 has the ability to switch from .3,1,2,2.5, and3.2mp in the camera, has the ability to change brightness of the picture the picture, image stabilizer, auto focus, different custom settings for different scenes depending on what your taking a picture on and where, the ability to easily make a panorama, to add frames, effects like sepia water color negative and black and white, change the exposure, and image quality in a sleek easy to use interface make the Samsung galaxy players camera much more useful and just better than the iPod touches camera. (plus the galaxy players camera is 5 times the resolution of the iPod touches camera)

plus any specification the iPod has the galaxy player doubles it or in the case of graphics triples it for example (ram, screen color production and viewing angles, speakers are superb even louder than an ipad, and you should get a longer battery life )

What is the difference between Ipad 2 and Ipad3?

cgrad2013

I'm getting ready to buy an IPAD but I don't know if its worth the extra 100 dollars.
From what I understand the Ipad3 has a nicer resolution? But what else can 3 do that 2 can not?

Answer
There are actually quite a lot of improvements that were taken on-board the iPad three, however, it could be entirely summed up that the iPad 3 is an upgraded version of the iPad 2, created to benefit the user by giving him an improved overall experience, both when it comes to hardware as well as software comparability. However, the main changes on the iPad 3 are primarily hardware-based.

Below are the differences between the iPad 2 and iPad 3, and weather they are worth spending an extra $100 based on each improvement.

- Processor (Chip): The iPad 3 boasts an Apple A5X Chip, while the older version of the iPad, the iPad 2, utilizes the A5 Chip. The main difference you will see between these two chips is speed. Although the iPad 2 is very fast in itself, the iPad 3 is just that much faster, and might be more useful if you're a frequent app user, especially processor-intensive apps. The benefit of getting the iPad 3 in this case would that it won't be out-dated as easily, as processor-demanding apps come out on the market. With the same reasoning, the iPad 2 will, in time, not be able to cope with newer software, which is why, in 2-3 years it will be phased out by Apple.

The main question here isn't if - but when. If you're ready to spend $100 for something that will, in theory - last longer before becoming obsolete, then go for the iPad 3. However, if you need something a bit on the cheap side, and don't intend on either using the iPad for more than 3years, or not use very processor-intensive applications, then go for the iPad 2.

- The Screen: The iPad 3 utilizes "Full HD" Retina display, while the iPad 2 utilizes a 720p HD Display. The main difference here is picture quality. The iPad 3 will give you a crisp - almost pixel free - especially for text (thanks to it's Retina Display), while the iPad 2, although having an amazing display, will be, by comparism, a less aquidate display. Personally, I don't see why anyone would switch to the iPad 3 based solely off display, quite frankly, although the quality on the iPad 3 is stunning, the iPad 2 offers a great overall display.

- The Camera: The iPad 3 features a 8MP, Full HD (1080p) camera which shoots at 30fps with stabilization, and face detection. The iPad 2, in comarism offers a 720p video camera with the ability to shoot low-quality stills, with x5 digital zoom. The front cameras, are generally both the same, although the front facing camera on the iPad 3 is just a bit better due to an integrated camera lence, rather than a video-shooting lence taking stills. Neither front-facing camera on the models mentioned have their MegaPixels specified. Personally, due to the major added improvements on the iPad 3's camera, I would spend the extra money on it.

- Wireless & Cellular: the iPad 3 offers 4G LTE, while the iPad 2 offers 3G networking. The only difference between the two is the wireless speed you'll be achieving on your iPad. The 4G network is a new type of network, currently being rolled out (and integrated) on all flagship phones and tablets, however, most phones currently only support 3G. If you have the extra money, I would spring for the 4G Network, however, unless you're really impatient, if you don't want to spend the money, go for the iPad 2.

--

When it boils down to it, it's only $100, I would go for the iPad 3, it being the newest item on the market, it will get "old" slower than the iPad 2, which already has a successor.

--

I hope you've found this helpful and helped you make an informed decision! I bet you'll love your new iPad, whichever one you choose!

How many megapixels on the new ipad 2 cameras?

The new ipad 2 has two cameras. How many megapixels on each? Apple does not have this information on the tech specs. Anyone know?

Answer
Both cameras are capable of still photos and video recording. Back camera is capable of 5x digital zoom. Front camera is VGA still photo and video recording and the back camera is HD video recording and (presumably) VGA still photos. Both are 30 frames per second. Apple didn't say anything about mega pixels, though it should on par with the ipod touch 4g. Take this with a grain of salt because i don't know for sure.

EDIT: just read the description again. you probably already knew all that stuff. Just assume it's the same quality of the ipod touch 4g

What would be better a Nintendo 3DS or an iPad 2?

Chris

I have an ipad and I was thinking about buying the new iPad 2 for my bday present. But then I heard about the nintendo 3ds and it sounds really cool but I don't kno witch one to buy now because both of them are really impressive. So should I stick with the ipad or should I get something new and different like the 3DS? And what would be some good reasons on why to buy the iPad 2 or the 3DS.

Answer
It all depends on what you want. Both devices are different. Here are some of their features, look through them and see which one suits you best:

Nintendo 3DS pro's:

-Can display full 3D without the need for special glasses
-It can take 3D pictures! Buying a camera that does this costs a lot, but you get it built in the 3DS!
-Higher quality games than the iPad has - 3DS games will last you a lot longer than iPad games, and will most probably be more fun
-You can watch movies and TV sports in 3D!
-You can buy and download additional game content and updates from the Nintendo e-shop
-It is smaller and lighter than the iPad 2, so it is more portable
-You can browse the internet, use facebook, youtube etc. just like on your PC
-You can play games online wirelessley
-You can add people to your 'friends list' - then you can see what games they are playing, you can play with them online, and you can send text messages, drawings (which you make with the 3DS touch screen) or pictures to them
-It can play augmented reality games - these games work by you putting a small card on your table. Then, the 3DS will make a game on your table! To see what I mean, click on the link below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14_EDenxvro - that is a guy playing on his table

Here are some videos of how games look and play on the 3DS:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J8IX1mmCTk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A_1IDwX0Cw

Nintendo 3DS cons:

-Even though it can take 3D pictures, it does so at a rather low resolution of 0.3 megapixels (640x480)
-The 3DS has a much shorter battery life than the iPad 2 (it only has 3-5 hours with the 3D effect on, and 5-8 hours with the 3D effect off)
-The 3DS touch screen is very good, however it isn't as responsive and sensitive as the iPad 2's
-Adding friends to your list can be annoying as you need to exchange 12-digit number codes to do so

iPad 2 pro's:

-It has a bigger screen the the 3DS
-It has a lot of free apps, the 3DS's cost money
-You can use live video chat just like with a webcam on your PC
-It has a longer battery life (it lasts roughly 9-10 hours)
-It is capable of faster web-browsing and internet usage
-It has more built in software
-It comes with a larger 'harddrive' (it comes with 16GB - 64GB, whereas the 3DS has 2GB)

iPad 2 Cons:

-Big games like Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, Super Mario and Assassin's Creed are almost never available for the iPad, and when they are it is often a cheaper, less fun version
-The iPad 2 costs a lot more than the 3DS (it costs a minimum of £325, whereas the 3DS can be found for a minimum of £195)
-The iPad 2 takes longer to charge up once the battery has drained
-It cannont take 3D pictures or 3D video like the 3DS, and its picture resolution is also very low (0.7 megapixels)

So really, its down to what you want. If price is an issue, then go for the 3DS as it can be found for up to £125 cheaper. If its not an issue, then look at what they can do. The 3DS will offer amazing 3D without glasses, it is also one of the first machines ever to take real 3D pictures, it allows you to watch 3D movies and sports, and will have better games. However, gaming is the main feature of the 3DS. So, if you don't like to play games, or only play them from time to time, then the 3DS might not be for you. The iPad is less portable, but offers live video chat, a better, larger screen along with more space to store pictures and videos, and faster internet connections.

I hope I've helped, and happy birthday!
