Lets say you have two photos, they are the same photos. one is a 13.1 MP and the other is shot with a 24.6 MP camera. Will the high MP camera offer the best quality? If not, what offers the high quality that makes photos look like glass, HD, the best of the best?

Answer
Yes and no. In today's cameras, the answer is largely no. But the answer is not simple. There are many factors that affect quality. Some have already been mentioned. Not mentioned is that sensor technology has improved in ways that are unrelated to pixel count. An 8-megapixel sensor today (if you can find one) will be much better than the same size from five years ago. As a general rule, the more pixels you have, the less light there is to share between them. This harms low light performance. However, the technology has improved so that today's sensors use the light more efficiently. Another factor is the quality of the in-camera processing before you even see the image. The more expensive cameras have more powerful processors and better software.

So it would be a mistake to purchase a camera solely on a comparison of the megapixels.

I can't leave the topic without mentioning that by far the greatest factor in quality photography is the skill of the person holding the camera. Most people who buy cameras today do not have the skills to take full advantage of the camera's capabilities. Another way of looking at this is that it won't be your camera that will limit the quality of your work. It will be you.

Would i still look as good as i do in a diff camera?10 POINTS?

I have a 5 MP camera. And look alright, but I'm guessing that I would look worse in a better higher MP camera, I look best in the mirror, better than I did on cam. Also is it bad if I only look good in a well lit area, or just descent?

Answer
Flip UltraHD Video Camera - 2 Hours (3rd Generation) NEWEST MODEL is a powerful, easy-to-use, fairly cheap video camera; it records @ 1280 x 720, 60 FPS, and can hold about two full hours of video at that capacity. It fits neatly in a shirt pocket and is pretty much ideal for recording anything that doesn't need to be professionally produced film, from home movies to recording interviews. It comes packaged with a basic editing program that's designed to make it as easy as possible to produce basic home movies and post them to the web.

A good camera for taking pictures with 300 DPI?

Okay, I know a little bit about digital cameras but not much. I have a 5 MP camera and even when I have it set for the highest-quality setting, when I check the properties of my photos they show that the X and Y numbers are 180, which I think means 180 DPI, right? So what camera would I need to take pictures that are 300 DPI, which is so often requested? 8 MP? 12 MP? Any suggestions?

Answer
DPI is a printer setting. It has nothing to do with what camera you use or how many magapixels the camera has.

If your camera has a default setting of 180 DPI (which is quite possible because different camera brands have different default settings) it means is that if you don't specify a print size, you'll get 180 Dots Per Inch. But when you DO specify a print size, the printer will automatically re-calculate the dots per inch. When you specify a small print size, like 6x4 inches, the printer will cram the dots closer together than 180 DPI to achieve 300 DPI or even more. When you specify a poster size print, the printer will space the dots out more and you can end up with less than 180 DPI.

Megapixels do come into play with very large pints however. If you have 10 megapixels instead of 5, you can make prints that are twice as big and still achieve 300 DPI resolution.
With a 5 megapixel camera, you can make 6x4 inch prnts at 300 DPI. With a 10 megapixel camera you have enough resolution to make 8x10 inch prints at 300 DPI.

300 DPI is glossy magazine quality. 180 DPI is still okay for casual stuff (so your 5 megapixel camera will still produce full page prints that you can frame) and with a lower DPI than that, you'll begin to notice image degradation. At extremely low dpi settings, the print will start to look a bit fuzzy or you might even see the individual pixels.

im interested in buying an apple touch screen but dont need a phone or high mp camera. i wanted to know if there are any limitations within the ipod touch when it comes to say gaming apps. is it just as good as the i phone?

Answer
The new iphone 4 uses the same processor as the Ipad, but it is tuned down a bit to save battery life (and its still fast!). One would assume the new touch uses the same chip, maybe not all of the RAM the iphone has tho, but I dont think youd notice a difference in performance. If I were you I'd wait a few more paychecks and save up for an IPAD, it really is worth it because you get so much more enjoyment/entertainment out of playing the exact same apps your touch would have but on a bigger screen. And it is more powerful and can do more down the line. And no I do not work for apple! :)
