What 1080 HP Canon/Nikon camera DOES NOT NEED BATTERIES?

Answer
Hahaha! All cameras use batteries. Rechargeable cameras are rechargeable because they have rechargeable batteries within them.

http://www.steves-digicams.com/camera-reviews/pentax_q_battery.jpg

This is in contrast to cameras that use disposable batteries, AA and AAA. Even then, rechargeable batteries come in all sizes and shapes even in AA and AAA. I use rechargeable AA's for all my dSLR's!

Solar powered cameras? They still have batteries. The solar panels charge the batteries.

Of course this is no joke. Elementary science has taught us what a battery is. It's basic knowledge.

Hahahahaha! And then there was part 2!

What is 1080 HP? The only HP I know is Hewlett Packard, makers of great and long lasting laser printers which they however fail to support after five years or so by stopping the manufacturing of laser toner cartridges. Of course they make cameras too.

What you meant was HD or High Definition, a video standard.

I'm looking to purchase a new camera for my amateur photography.
I currently use a Panasonic Lumix fz35, but I'm a bit bored of it now.
Don't want a dslr, or any 'bulky' kind of cameras.
The samsung nx210 looks appealing to me, but i'm not sure about the specs, and quality of it.

Any opinions / recommendations would be a great help to me!!
Thanks!

Answer
Take a look at the Sony NEX cameras -NEX-F3, NEX-5N and NEX-7. Here are reviews of them:

http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/sony-nex-f3/sony-nex-f3A.HTM

http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/NEX5N/NEX5NA.HTM

http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/NEX7/NEX7A.HTM

Here are current prices from B&H - http://www.bhphotovideo.com

NEX-F3 w/18-55mm zoom, $498.00 after a $100.00 'Instant Savings' from B&H. Ends 9-29-2012.

NEX-5N w/18-55mm zoom. $498.00 after a $200.00 'Instant Savings' from B&H. Ends 9-29-2012.

NEX-7 w/18-55mm zoom, $1,268.00 after an $80.00 'Instant Savings' from B&H. Ends 9-29-2012.

The deep discounts shown on the NEX-F3 and NEX-5N (also shown on the Sony website) tells me that there are new models coming so either of these cameras is a real bargain right now.

Photographers, which is better, Nikon or Canon?

1Anonymous

I know the Canon 5D mark III is supposed to be the best camera out there and the Nikon D800 almost matches it, but I don't have 3000 dollars to spend.

So on a smaller, scale say 600-700 dollars,
would you say that the Nikon d3500 or the Canon T3 is better?
I like the 7- 9-blade diaphragm that Nikon offers opposed to the 6- 8- of Canon. But I hear that Nikon has too much magenta in their resolutions or too much yellow in the LCD.

Which has more aperture versatility and accurate shutter speed?

For outdoor/landscape, night, and long exposure photography, and natural looking portraits, which brand is better?

Any recommendations for models by each brand? Like, is it really worth it to get the T3i for such and such more dollars instead of the T3?

Thanks
Whoops- D3200

Answer
First, repeat this 100 times: "It isn't the camera its the photographer." Any DSLR in capable hands will produce good results. Your knowledge of Light, Composition, Exposure and Depth of Field and your skill in using that knowledge will determine the quality of the results.

A DSLR doesn't have "aperture versatility". That is a function of the lens. Nikon and Canon offer a wide variety of lenses with different maximum apertures. The T3 and D3200 both come with an 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 zoom lens. Both manufacturers offer a more expensive 17-55mm f2.8 zoom as an alternative to the standard 18-55mm zoom.

Since all DSLR shutters are electronically controlled its safe to say any make and model will have an accurate shutter speed.

Most beginner photographs use the 18-55mm zoom for outdoor photography. The 18mm end of the standard 18-55mm zoom is suitable for landscapes although anyone serious about landscape photography will eventually want an even wider lens (10mm, 12mm, etc.) and a good tripod.

Natural looking portraits are a result of the photographer's skill in using good lighting and posing techniques and in knowing what lens to use. The make and model of camera is irrelevant.

Long exposure photography requires a tripod and, if done during daylight hours, a Neutral Density (ND) filter.

The Canon T3 is their most basic entry-level DSLR. The Canon T4i when fitted with one of the two available Canon STM lenses (40mm and 18-135mm) will allow for auto focus during video. The T3, T2i and T3i don't have that feature/benefit.

The Sony SLT A65 allows for continuous, full-time, phase-detect auto focus whether you're shooting still images or full 1080p HD video with any AF lens in the Sony lineup. The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) chose the A65 as their 2012 Top DSLR - Advanced.

The Pentax K-30 has a weather-sealed body and comes with a weather-sealed 18-55mm zoom lens. This makes it usable in the rain or in very dusty conditions that would damage the comparably priced models from Sony, Canon and Nikon.

At http://www.digital-slr-guide.com you can find comparisons of various makes and models of DSLR cameras. Compare them feature by feature.

You'll also find excellent reviews at http://www.imaging-resource.com and at http://www.dpreview.com

Ignore sites that only offer user reviews.

Visit a camera store and physically handle each make and model. One will just "feel" better as you handle it. If that particular models has all the features you want then its the one to buy.

Just remember this: "It isn't the camera its the photographer." It won't matter if you pay $500.00 or $5,000.00 for a camera if you aren't knowledgeable about Light, Composition, Exposure and Depth of Field and, through practice, skilled in their use you'll get the same results regardless of how much you pay for the camera.

Am I the only one unhappy with Nikon service?

dslr camera reviews 2012 image

thankyouma

This is a copy of my 11/16/12 complaint to BBB. BBB posted it 11/20/12. So far there is no response from Nikon. Has anyone ever had similar problem with Nikon?

Nature of Complaint: Guarantee Or Warranty Issues - A dispute regarding the warranty coverage and/or terms
Problem:
I purchased a Nikkor 16-85mm f3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR lens from BH Photo, arrival date April 13, 2011. Serial number US26015999. I promptly filled in the Nikon Extended Coverage card and mailed it to Nikon. That extends the Nikon warranty from the standard 1 year to 5 years. I mainly use this lens with my Nikon D90 body. The lens worked mostly beautifully at first. In the last year it seems like it has been having increasing autofocus errors, especially at the shorter focal lengths. Blame the body, my technique, or the lens? It seems like the body rarely has autofocus error with other lenses. Trying the lens on an older D60 body, I think I got fewer errors than with the D90, but still more than I should with this lens. When it is wrong it seems to focus as if my subject were closer than it is. I place my autofocus sensor carefully to make user error unlikely. Looking at user reviews by others, most are happy with this lens. A minority of reviewers report autofocus error problems that seem similar to mine. One reviewer said that Nikon service found the autofocus module to be defective. In September 2012 I sent the lens to Nikon's service facility in El Segundo, California, service order 5978634. It was covered by the extended warranty. Their result was to report it to have been tested and showing no problem. My experiments with the lens is that it still has a problem with autofocus.

Desired Outcome
Desired Settlement: Repair
Desired Outcome:
I would like to send in the lens for warranty service again, but I need it to be more seriously tested and actually fixed.

Answer
You may need to have the lens calibrated to the camera. This will require sending the camera in along with the lens. Unfortunately, the D90 has no user lens calibration capability, however more modern advanced amateur cameras such as the D7000 do.

Also you may want to be sure you have the latest lens firmware downloaded to your D90. Nikon DSLRs typically have two firmwares; one for the camera's operating system, and a second firmware for lens definitions. The latest firmware for the D90 (1.002) is for updating the lens "distortion control data" feature, but who knows? it might fix your problem.

And yes, Nikon service leaves something to be desired. There have been a lot of comments on the internet about having to send in the camera/lens/whatever in more than one time to have it properly fixed.
